Hi all.
My character is an elven rogue.  I decided early on that this character would be an archer, and was wondering what the best specialisation for him would be:  Duelist, Assasin, Ranger, or Bard?

I plan on staying as an archer.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I assume you aren't using any mods to make Archery better, so that means your Rapid Fire doesn't allow criticals. In that case, I suggest Bard. The +dmg from Song of Courage and other party benefits may prove more helpful to you.

Sorry to be a dork, but I'm nto even 100% sure what mods are.  I'm guessing its a mod to the game that makes it better to play.
I'm DAO'ing on PS3.  Thanks again for the suggestion.

Console, duelist/bard gives your max damage for your self, but ranger/bard is good too. It's just ranger pets don't add to your damage in heroic accomplishment, it's like having an extra party member.

I myself enjoyed ranger / bard more than the others. my wolf was hitting for 40-50 damage every 2 seconds or so. with my 60 - 70 shots.

If you are doing a cun heavy build take bard first then ranger, but if you are doing a dex heavy build take ranger then bard.

If you're going to go with ranger, always go with it first, instead of waiting till 14 to get it..

the rangers pet does far more damage than your bard buff would give you in the lower levels.

...for my archer i'm currently playing, I've taken Assassin specialization for the +2 dexterity though I haven't taken any talents yet, though will take exploit weakness later on as I have maxed stealth talents. I'm currently trying to decide on a second specialization but will probably take Duelist for a further +2 dexterity and the +1 attack / damage...will possibly pick up duelling talent as well as it works with archery!

....still I have to say that my archer is my most underwhelming character so far!

for my archer i went ranger/ bard the bear and wolf are the pets ever to have. put that with song of courage the damage is just crazy i hit 50-100 in rapid shot mode. im dex and cunning build. just remember to get lethility so your damage judge by your cunning instead of your str. its going take a bit to for this toon to shine.

I agree, mate.  Archers are usually decent characters in RPG's but in DA they suck big time.  Maybe once they fix dex and whatnot, things will get better.  my first character was a mage and whilst I didn't expect an archer toon to be as potent as a mage, i still wasn't prepared for the lack luster performance. Appart from Arrow of slaying (which akes an age to re use),  i've been finding the damage output quiet shocking when compared to daggers etc.

Oh i see the problem your doing it wrong. their is a reason why archers are better rangers/bards then assassins/duelist. but there are plenty of topics on this on the forum so use the search button
