We've finally reached the point where it's ok to ask for more female characters. Maybe they will or won't get into ME3 MP, but if people keep asking for female characters, characters of colour and more diversity, the old chestnut that there's no demand for it can finally be debunked for good.
So, maybe nothing will change for this game, but if we keep asking, sometime in the future we will finally get.

I would simplify even further and suggest it's not less experience with women, rather that those posters have less respect for other people, full stop.
@Lord_Sirian: re. "Why do we not see African-Americans demanding more African-American characters then?"
Because you don't read the news? This is from last year but still relevant: http://kotaku.com/58...-embarrassed-by
Also, you don't have to be African-American to ask for or support the idea of more African-American characters. Here's a mini essay you might like to read from one of my favourite gaming commentators: http://thegamingmuse...d-gamer-created

This isn't a thread for fem-bashing, I just want to ask why some people are adamant about ME3 MP getting more female characters. I don't understand why some are pushing for this to happen so much.
I don't know, I pefere male characters. Females are ofcourse nice to look at and all. But when the **** hits the fan, I'd rather be a MAN!

Mostly camera angle prevents me from doing this. Pluuuus, it'd be too distracting.

Why not have more female kits?
I personally don't care what the gender is, as long as it;'s fun to play.
Mainly though, it adds more variety.
And new character models are nice. Which would be better than the recycling of old ones we've been getting.
Yes, there may be some peeps whos reasons for wanting consist of boobs and nothing else. But, (maybe being generous here) I'd like to think that they're the minority.
And this made me chuckle.

Random question for anyone who remembers:
Was there any giant whine-fest over adding Male Quarians? I certainly remember seeing many threads popping up asking for Male Quarians to be added, but I do not recall anyone taking issue with that request. It seemed fairly universally supported by BSN.
And then we got Male Quarians with new/unique powers.
So, why, when this happens in reverse, do people suddenly become all hinged up and also think that a female Turian would bring absolutely nothing new to the table power-wise?
There was A LOT of whining pre-MQs, and I remember telling a lot of people to calm down about them as well.
I don't think anyone is particularly against FemTurians, but the complaints about lack of them certainly irritates me (threadwise, and posts in threads about new DLC).
Well, I'm just hoping I'm not lumped into the "complaint" department. I don't ever want to come off to anyone, especially BioWare, as demanding/complaining/entitled. While I do really, really want just one female Turian, it's by no means a deal-breaker. I have loved all the DLC to date and know that I will love any new DLC that comes out.
Those that start going on... long-winded rants/tirades about it, or start banging the gender equality drum, or threaten to start rage threads if we don't get them... I cringe at all that, too, quite frankly.

Yeah but it's the internet. People threaten to quit over nerfs, Protheans, pumpkins, banners, heck sometimes I feel overdramatic and sour when Origin poops itself. That's how I take it anyway.DragonRacer wrote...

Your points unfortunately miss the investment return ratio. This is a business, not a social experiment in gender politics. Will there always be a demand, yes, will it be enough all the time to warrant it? No. So there remains the point and nothing has been debunked and it remains governed by exactly the same point as it always was.
Whilst the day I take Kotaku seriously is the day I lobotomise myself with a pencil. The entire article revolves around positive discrimination, but considering the purpose of the game is to target the largest audience possible to maximise potential return, both articles fly way off base and move to the realms of "it's the right thing to do" It may very well be, but in this world moral right doesn't equal success.
And frankly this is not a issue of privilige, it's an issue of practicality and applicability. I could argue that rehashing the entire cast of characters to provide a female version is a inane request. And I'd likely be accused of being priviliged by some. Unfortunately, it's precisely what the conclusion of the Guardian dictated, an attempt to stifle disagreement. I explained why it's a dumb request and a pipe dream, yet it irritates me that several continue to ask in the face of logic and common sense, through what I can only imagine is due to being deliberately obtuse.
As to the final point of Turian women, its likely given the Omega DLC, the distinct lack of Turian Adepts and Vanguard and the fact that many parts of SP DLC are making their way to the MP. So, so long as it adds something new, have at it, I'm happy to see what they come up with. The rest of the points that have been made about equal representation, well I don't have enough patience to hold back anymore and I'll deride people for being dense, for the previously stated reasons. That also extends to the misogynistic rants which crop up. I consider both sides fair game to insult and point out the rank idiocy which pervades these discussions on equal representation and gender politics.
Yes, I'm not joking or being tongue in cheek anymore, like I had been previously.

I'm hesitant to use the word "evil," but jesus. I thought society was making a bit of progress. You know how when people say "jawdropping," they don't usually mean it sincerely? Literally open-mouthed in shock. I didn't realise this mindset still existed.
I was going to post that "They exist, they're interesting, they're part of the lore, and we should be using the lore we have before we get onto the lore we don't," but I think if there's compelling any argument that there should be more female characters in the game, it's every single argument against adding female characters that the people in this thread have made.
Sweet lord. Shame on this toxic, bratty community.

Better question is, why do some people so vehemently oppose female characters in a RPG/co-op game? As long as there are some male characters in the game that I can play as it doesn't bother me in the least if they add female based character kits.

Seriously though, one argument is that there are no 'tanky' females. Casting aside some of the vanillas, lets take a look at tanky races. Krogan: females are off the battlefield, too valuable. Batarians: backwards society, never seen one in ME lore, why expect to see one in MP? Turians: see above, should be in MP ("ooh, but they'll be casters!"... shut up). What else.. are Vorcha asexual?
Geth are machines, no more Volus!, would support female Salarians if it meant more Salarians (pleeeease!), don't need any more humans. The end.

I'm adamant for multiple reasons. The first of which is the poor representation of female characters in video games a whole. The second is that I have grown weary of playing as heterosexual males in video games, they're constantly shoved in my face and I'm tired of them. I'd much rather play as a female character.
