I'm annoyed that this is even a debate for plenty of you idiots. It's very simple; people want something new.

Yup pretty much this. Lots of dumb responses in here.

And one more now that the Irish have started posting in it.

Zing.

Ah thanks Sirian you're too kind.

HEY!

Irish and American here, so I'm feeling a lot of hate from this thread today!

On topic, I dunno why this is so contentious for everyone; I want Protheans, other people want female Turians--Why can't people just be okay with what others want, and see where it goes? It's not like Bioware is making DLC soley based on the desires of BSN!

Yeah if tech can make women as strong and durable as men, then it's only realistic to think that it can make fat people as fit and fast as fit people.

We do have Volus but that doesn't count. Need MOAR fat representation!

The Irish are used to that during the rare times they are sober, and unlike every other group it's okay to make fun of the Irish without being Irish yourself, though in my case I am part Irish.

Everyone probably has a little Irish in their background.  It's hard not too, when they're so well known for their loose morals and constant inebriation.  Soulless buggers get around, is what I'm saying.  If you know what I mean.

See, the Irish take this sort of thing in their stride. Why can't women?

While I'd love to point out how the lore supports females, we've all seen how much weight lore holds in MP. One does not have to be a "internet feminist" to want variety. It's not that we see ourselves represented by the polygons so much as we'd like to see something other than blokes all the time. Is that such a strange desire?

These debates crop up a lot on the BSN and there's no hope in changing minds but I think we can all agree that there is nothing wrong with new characters being added regardless of gender or lore (though there may be some outcry regarding things that don't make sense). At the end of the day, it's not that big of a deal but just as some people may want to see a krogan with a hammer others would like to see more of what Nyreen showed us in Omega. That's hardly a crime.

Quote for more people to see.

i mean asari aren't even women in-game, they're genderless. According to Liara from Mass Effect (1).

Mono-gendered, not genderless.

Seconded, though its more mono-sexed than mono-gendered. You could argue the asari were agendered if they didnt adhere to female sterotypes for humans.

Yes exactly, there is a difference between gender and sex. But bioware didn't bother to explain in game lol. Are you saying that they do adhere to female stereotypes for humans?

I would say many of them do. Based on the clothing and some other cultural aspects I would say they definitely adhere to the more feminine side of the gender spectrum in alot of their culture, though obviosly this is not universal in their species and in fact we se many whose gender expressin is more androgynous.

 1. More variety?

There are about 54 different characters... how much more variety can one get?

2. Booty.

As depraved as I am, I don't need tostare at pixelated rear-ends all game long.

3. Why not?

Cause it's unecessary, so why bother?

I don't have a problem with it... just can't understand why people are so ADAMANT about it... same as I don't get why people HAD to have Male Quarians...

Technically, if genetic and cybernetic upgrades make women as strong as the men.. wouldn't the men who get those same upgrades be even stronger than the women given that they have naturally bigger bodies, more muscle and denser bones?

So really, even in the future, men will still be stronger.

None of my male characters receive sandwiches between waves so the women need to do something other than sit in my house and spend my credits. Being on the battlefield and all that running and fighting keeps dat ass tight and works up a sexy amount of sweat.

Imagine the how the Demolisher looks after battle with no helmet on sitting there in the dropship without the top of her hard suit and nothing but a sports bra.

Wowzzers.

So then can i say for fact that Americans are all a sod bunch of obese slobs, destroying the eccosystem one cheeseburger at a time? Stereotypes are always hyperbolic and rarely true, assuming they're factual isn't the brightest thing to do. The more you know.
