Does Battle Star Galactica get better after/during season 2? Should I stop or give the Original Series a shot?

My brother and I are very avid sci fi fans and both of us have been unable to sit and watch this show for anything past season two for a couple episodes.

My question is does ANYTHING happen in this show? First episode was good. Season one wasn't too bad however they recycle lots of action scenes, use terrible camera, soap opera-esk character developments (nothing like the high politics of Dune or such) and now in season two there are freakin' three SEPERATE plots occuring and we are both bored to tears.

I just don't get this show. I've watched all the Stargates, Star Treks, Dr Who, and read a ton of sci fi but I just can't get into this show like I did for the first few episodes. It feels like Heroes where they rape the story with drama, multiple story lines, and completly lose focus of where they were even going. The characters are so unnatural, clueless, unrelatable, and just in general poorly made. Don't even get me started on the ridiculous frequency of pointless sex scenes that rival Robert Heinlen's Stranger in a Strange Land.

Not trying to start a flame war as at first I really did like this show but instead of panning out like an interesting sci fi or military sci fi it just feels like a soap opera...with space ships and robots...

I only watched Battle Star up to season 3, but I can say that the pacing does get better.

I personally felt every season was worse then the previous one. Every season also got more and more ridiculous. I do not want to say what is wrong in case you do watch it I do not want to give spoilers but if you are already having problems with the show in season two I would just not even bother if I was you.

I personally really enjoyed season 2 and season 3. Season 4 however will probably dissapoint you even more considering the fact that its the worst season imo. I don't know what the writers were thinking during that season.

Anyway, I really reccomend to finnish the entire show. It really is worth it.

I watched the entire show start to finish. The plot goes downhill from half way through season 3, but there are some damned awesome scenarios that happen in 4. The entire plot takes a nose dive and heads straight into science fantasy. But watch it for the sake of completion. Unresolved plot aside, the finale along is pretty damned cool. And events leading to it are as well.

Personally, I prefer Caprica.

I was sad when Caprica was cancelled.  But I guess people wanted the Pew Pew and Cylons.

If you are already bored, then don´t bother. You´ll fall asleep during the 2nd half of season 3. I liked season 4 (save for "Deadlock", that one was horrible), but at the end they decided not to explain the main mistery of the series. Quite annoying, Liked the resolutions for the surviving characters though.

About the original series, I remember liking it as a child, but when I tried to rewatch the pilot a few years ago... couldn´t get past half an hour of it.

I miss Caprica too.

Well, that and Caprica had its own issues with the first half of the season. The second half showed real potential, unfortunately.

It is one of my all time favorite programs, but if you didn't like Season 1 and 2, this is probably not the show for you.

This is pretty much my opinion of the show as well.

I'm sorry, but did we watch the same show?

If you haven't enjoyed it and feel that way about the characters then all I can say is that the show isn't for you.

I liked the series though the ending caused some to rage- fair warning. It's not as good as Babylon 5, but fairly entertaining.

As for watching the original... BUAHAHA, you're kidding right? I was in love with Starbuck back in the day (when Starbuck was a man), but even with my nostalgia it's a terrible show which suffered a merciful death.
