Seeing how Mass Effect had gamespot staffer Chobot and Dragon Age 2 went with that geeky youtube-star, im just curious.
Maybe a porn star like in Saints row 2 or yakuza 2?  Seems to be the new deal with popular games, to add in famous people within them.

I hope that they dont have a famous celebrity in the game because having someone famous in the game costs more than professional voice actors and it means more resources are spent on something that did not need it.

I really doubt it. Hopefully they don't. I just don't think these minor web/geek celebrities are that popular or that's it's justifiable to crowbar them into a cameo.

Having Diana Allers in ME3 made me think that perhaps the reapers had a point. As for the other one i had never heard of her before and had no idea who she is. So hopefully not again.

I hope not. This came to mind on seeing the topic. Who better to replace Chobot and that mess?

Hopefully they have learned from the Chobot debacle that the fans are not stupid and can't easily be spoonfed like that

I suspect you mean more specifically 'geek celebrities.' I had never heard of Jessica Chobot or Felicia Day until they were billed for these games. I think Claudia Black and Kate Mulgrew are bigger 'celebrities' in a general sense.

No, he means slimy marketing moves. Though it doesn't really apply in Felicia's case, since she's more of a fan and ally of the games than some vapid name to drop in just to get some easy press (even if it began that way, it was only for DLC and she proved to have a real passion for the role anyway). It's hard to get any more sketchy than what went on for ME3.

I agree that Kate Mulgrew is celebrity enough for the series. Though if they wanted to bring in Juliette Binoche or Catherine Deneuve for Orlais, I certainly couldn't complain.

I would only hope that they are a) worth the time and expense (martin sheen: worth it, jessica chobot: the opposite of worth it), and B) not used as a selling point for the game in place of the actual gameplay (*cough* MotA *cough*).

Running into John Cleese in Jade Empire was a lot of fun and unexpected. Nathon Fillion would be a welcome addition to the voices.

edit: got my names mixed up, fixd

Felicia Day and Jessica Chobot was stunt casting to attract a certain demographic. Felicia Day I didn't mind because her voice acting was on par with the rest of the game. Jessica Chobot on the other hand...

No, celebrities (and I use that term loosely in Chobot's case) should not be in games. When celebrities become involved things tend to becomes all about them. It ruins games. Oh buy this game not because its good, but because *insert name here* is in it and we're trying to get a romamnce petition going!!.

DA already has Felicia Day so if anything just bring her back.

tbf though, I'm not against them casting good actors and actresses for the roles, Martin Sheen, Yvonne Strahovski, Seth Green and Claudia Black where all excellent in the roles they voiced for various Bioware games.

No more celebrities! No more Jessica Chobots! No more Felicia Days! No more Martin Sheen, Carrie-Anne Moss, Seth Green, Claudia Black, Tricia Helfer, Yvonne Strahovski, Freddie Prinze Jr., Eve Myles or Steve Valentine! No more Jennifer Hale, Mark Meer, Steve Blum, Grey Delisle, Nolan North, Troy Baker or any other well-known voice actors!

If you've even so much as heard their name in passing, they shouldn't appear in a Dragon Age game! Let's make this series into the ultimate pretentious hipster franchise.

I'm all for celebrities that do a good job and don't break the bank. No WWE stars or Tom Hanks, for example.

Besides, given how burned everyone who was even associated with ME3 got, I don't think there will exactly be a line out the door for new celebrities wanting to be a part of a Bioware franchise right this second.

I don't think the controversy over ME3 is really all that well-known outside of dedicated video game circles. We sometimes think that our hobby is a bigger deal than it actually is.

And I don't think there's a line of celebrities out the door looking to work in video games period. It's just work.
