MP team is separate from SP team. Both were funded by EA. Bioware got more money than if they only did SP. There is no reason to think the SP was impacted by MP.

I don't know the coop would be going back on the promise though, technically it's not require for required for game play in this case it's optional DLC possible even an optional mode only.

Well yeah, in the sense that Leviathan was optional. From Ashes was optional. Playing Mass Effect in the first place was optional. Nobody sat me down and forced me to do any of this.

Assuming that any of this even turns out to be accurate (which, at this point, isn't exactly a certainty), unless it's just replaying existing story levels - which could happen - or comes bundled with singleplayer equivilants, the co-op functionality isn't optional in the sense of having other ways of playing it. That's what seems to be getting people's backs up.

'Course, given that the thing hasn't even been announced as existing at all yet, I'd say it's a little early for that kind of discussion myself, but hey.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to co-op and a tie-in to multiplayer. Nothing increases the longevity of a game for me like co-op. I was seriously skeptical of ME3MP when it first came out but its been awesome with the added characters, guns, maps and enemies. I've burned off more time on MP than any game in recent memory.
