Yep, because in a galaxy where you can fire lead at a fraction of the speed of light; lets just give the most elite forces in the Galaxy melee weapons.

It makes sense for the Krogan atleast because Krogans can do what they want because no one has the balls to tell a Krogan not to beat an atlas with a warhammer.

What I'm really curious about is how it will work. We will use it on the melee button (F on PC), or it will be used as any other weapon, pressing the fire button? It is really only melee or it shoot some kind of energy or whatever when you use it?

Interesting thought. You would equip it optionally, but it'd completely replace heavy melee (maybe light too).
