It was never about conventional in my mind. I still can't figure out the reasoning behind the crucible also targeting other synthetics. The super weapon just isn't that super it seems.

Don't worry, OP: I'm also still pissed about it. I can't even play ME3's singleplayer anymore because of how hollow it makes the whole experience seem. As Javik, Vega, Cortez, Traynor, and EDI are all my precious babies, this totally sucks balls.

On the bright side, MP is still hella fun. Also, ME3 has provided me with an excellent example of how to NOT end a franchise. In fact, if ME3 hadn't sucked, I probably would have never taken my desire to create my own sci-fi IP seriously.

So yeah I'm doing cool creative stuff now to fill the awful void left by the greatest disappointment I've ever experienced in a piece of entertainment. Like seriously, I was less pissed about Other M than ME3. Which I thought was basically impossible because Other M was terrible.

You need to move on OP. Find something you do like. All of the hate is unhealthy.

I definitely feel the same, though I haven't really touched the game since Leviathan.

It's sad, I suppose, but there's not much to be done for it now. As others have suggested, you simply have to put it behind you, and you can either forget the trilogy and hope for better next time, forget the franchise altogether and hope DA or the new IP are more to your liking, or take your business elsewhere.

Discussing it here is not going to accomplish anything. As bad as it is, the game isn't going to change; that means you have to.

To me the Crucible should of just done what killing Saren did. Disable the Reapers for a period of time and depending on the forces you've gathered depends on whether you can destroy enough Reapers to make them impossible to Harvest. Then you have post ending content that tells how the Galaxy went to dark space and finally brought the fight to the Reapers and they are no longer a threat or you make ME4 into a hunt the Reapers game.

I'm beginning to hate the reaction to the ending more than the ending itself. It's like a snowball effect, it just drags you along without your consent whatsoever.

That's pretty much what I expected. Good idea about ME4 being a hunt the Reapers game. I'm not sure if anyone else would like it, but it definitley seemed plausible.

Noted, respected, but disagreed with. I enjoyed the game and that's enough for me, anyone who dislikes this game, well...that's your matter to deal with not mine.

Well, it's not going to change, so it'd be wise to either move on to something else or just live with it.

Loved the game. Slowly finding time around school to get another playthrough in. Excited as hell that it's gonna line up my ME3 play with the mew DLC.

Indoctrination, puzzle theory, non-crucible conventional war option all make more sense to me.

I replayed it, cause I like torturing myself. I disliked the lack of conversation wheels with many of the characters.

The ending feels fake, dream like. Doesn't fit the game I played.

But if they had a "conventional" hero ending. I don't mind dying if the game ended with all my hard work intact. I'd die to keep the universe the way I left it. I'd sacrifice Earth for it. To allow all other life to live without Reapers.

I still feel that I should have been able to pick 2 more crew to rush the beam, I'd still like it better if I could drive a Mako into it, or a Hammer Head.
Joker is a jerk for not flying up to pick me up, but he'd risk flying upto Harbinger? Really? No red beam of death in that moment?

I don't know I really feel let down. I don't understand the universe of ME anymore. How they bring the three or four endings together I don't know. Canon endings are BS to me, means the others don't matter and that was never ME to me. The could have tied universe up in a nice bow like at the end of the last two and told me he and Garrus met for that drink in Rio with Jacob and Kasumi buying. Tali with her induction port fruity drinks. Ash esposing poetry over some whisky, with Liara realizing she likes martini's. I know it would have been "simple" or just like the other games, but it's really not.

The Witcher delivers on that divergant plot and brings it back together. ME I felt could have done the same but for whatever reason didn't. I used to feel that Bioware could do no wrong. ME 1, Dragon Age Origins, Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, Neverwinter and the expansions, Jade Empire, the first two Star Wars games. I think that list ended or at least Bioware needs to prove me wrong before I pre-order anything else. Commiting hundreds of hours of my life, and dollars from my life for this. I don't put up with it from friends or family being let down this way. It's ME2 that made start feeling that way, then DA2 felt it some more (talkitive man's dialog smacks me in the face everytime) and now ME3.
To be fair ME3, ME2 and DA2 still had moments of pure emotion that I loved but I could see the veil dropping on things I didn't like. Sitting with Tali on Rannoc, Mordin's sacrifice, Legion becoming an individual, Liara grabbing my arm and resting her head on my shoulder, the charge through the Collector base was the best climax game segment of all time. Jack growing up. I'll end my rant and unchecked spelling/grammer here.

The battle with Sovereign was pretty idicative of the fact that winning conventional war against the Reapers was impossible.

It took the combined forces of the Citadel and Alliance fleets to bring that beast down, and that was after Shepard took its shields down.

Bioware already hand-waved a little to make it less hopeless by weakening the Reaper's shields in ME3(no longer impenetrible) and adding smaller Reapers that were actually killable.

there is one flaw in your argumentation:

in mass effect one, only cruisers +1 dreadnought (mass effect 3 retcon) were fighting sovereign. dreadnoughts are a tactical reserve and it takes time to mobilise them - in mass effect 1, there was not time to do this.

the only shipclass that is effective agaist a dreadnought, is another dreadnought - quintessence of the codex.
cruisers, even lots of them, dont have the firepower to take out a conventional dreadnought and it takes 4 conventional dreadnoughts, to take out a sovereign class reaper.

The Destroy ending is the only one i can accept as it leaves me with the cold comfort that Shepard may have lived as the other two endings deal with shepards depressing and lonely suicide there is no emotional high to be had with those ones.Everything else that goes on i don't care about and have accepted that its a load of pretentious twaddle.

A traditional, conventional victory where the cycle's races just throw all of their military might without any unconventional tactics or strategy at the Reapers does not indeed make sense.  However, copying the endings from Deus Ex(an amazing game in it's own right) is utterly lazy and stupid.  For some reason, BW thought nobody would notice this or care.

This. I noticed straight away it was a rip off of Deus Ex's.

Although I would like to see some sort of conventional victory, but I won't get my hopes up.

Well i hate the star brat. It is the cancer in the ending which acts as the catalyst for the non-sensical disjointed trainwreck that is the ening debacle.
