Honestly, I never played Mass Effect until Christmas, and the main thing I knew about the game was how terrible the ending was to the third game. I ended up watching it on youtube just to see what all the comotion was about, as i figured I'd never buy the game. (Ive seen the ending from beam run and up. Original, EC, and MEHEM)

Well, I may be 5 years late to the party, but after playing through ME1 and ME2 (currently working through ME3) on xbox 360, I have to say, this may be my favourite game trilogy EVER.

ME1 had  an awesome story. Some of my fav parts were becoming a spectre, all of Noveria, Virmire, and the entire ending (the battle for the citadel was amazing). Even the graphics were pretty damn good for a 5 year old game.I play as paragade default male shepard romancing Ashley williams (dont get all the hate for her, she is very interesting, and SHES NOT A RACIST). The combat was decent but felt clunky, and exploring uncharted worlds was terrible, as were the boring assignments.

ME2 is a bloody masterpiece. Once again a great story, and the characters are unreal. The suicide mission was awesome, really felt epic.  The gameplay was much much better, but i didnt like how stripped down some things were (very few weapons, and almost no different armours). Stayed loyal to Ash, but i was definetly disappointed with her role. Assignments were much improved, they felt unique, and werent anywhere near as boring as ME1s.

Now i havent even gotten anywhere near far into ME3 (still on Mars lol), but gameplay once again is much better, and everything seems good (dont worry ive heard all of the complaints about autodialogue, and it does bug me too). I know the ending blows (including EC), but there are parts of it that I like. The confrontation with the illusive man is greatly done, and andersons death is very sad (i teared up watching it on youtube and i had never played mass effect, had no idea who this guy was). the catalyst is stupid though, and so is synthesis (its what saren wanted!). MEHEM fixes all of that though (for the most part), and even adds lines for harby! I wish the mod was available to 360, but i guess i can always just watch it on youtube!

-I should state another two things that make me love these games: soundtrack and voice acting. top of the line. they play a big role in why i love these games. Hell i have all of the OSTs!
-The atmosphere is awesome, going to after life on omega and seeing the dancers and hearing the music is just awesome. My first time in there i was blown away.
-decision making, and playing my way (even though decisions dont play much role in the endings, I still enjoy playing these damn games!)

WHOSE WITH ME ON THIS?! :o

Then it's rather premature to be making the topic statement, is it not?

Get off the forum until you finish.  You will get spoiled, at the least.

And you may want to stay off even afterwards, depending on how you feel after it's done.

Definately too soon. Just wait until you get to the end, OP. Image IPB

I rank ME above Halo in terms of video game trilogies (just to emphasize my high regard for the games)

But I agree with Cthulhu42, before you jump to any conclusions, finish the game.

You'll enjoy it more if you take it for what it is, and don't overhype it.

Enjoy your game.

Umm, your opinion on the ending will change when you actually get there. Too much stuff happens up till then.

There are other parts in the game itself that may affect your opinions too. My advice is stay off the forums until you're done.

okay now the post makes sense Image IPB

Yes, MEHEM salvages the game for me.  I still question Mass Effect being the "best trilogy ever" (though I guess there aren't a whole lot of video game trilogies out there)

Gears of War is more deserving of this title.

It is some of the greatest games I have played. Great to here you enjoyed them and are enjoying me3. If you can spare the money I suggest getting from ashes and leviathan, they add to the story.

I know this ending topic has been beat to death, but I think most of you are missing what he is trying to say.  Although you may not like the ending, these games are still AMAZING!  I just replayed all 3 for the 5th time.  How many games, let alone trilogies warrant thant kind of replay?  Stop crying about the damn ending, and realize you might never play 3 games like this ever again.

Oh god no. Terrible storyline and probably the worst multiplayer on Xbox right now.

"Hey have you ever wondered why (ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE PLOT)? Well it's all on this disc Baird, and don't worry, no one that played 3 games to get answers is going to see it and we're never mentioning that disc again."

It certainly is more cohererent and cohesive as a trilogy than ME is.

ME feels more like three completely separate and different standalone games with a few characters common to each other than one big story, despite the save import being one of its major selling points.

i disagree, at least for ME1 and ME2, they seem tied together very very well

I think as a whole I liked the Xenosaga trilogy the best. All three games meshed together, the story was outstanding throughout, and the third game was awesome.

The ending was bittersweet, just great all around.

Real talk, I agree. I'd suggest the Solid Snake era MGS games too if Solid Snake wasn't in Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 already.

No, I just love that gif. Image IPB

Still, why the hell would you watch the endings before completing the game? Image IPB
