I was really annoyed with Liara for starting crap with Javik after Thessia. It's even worse if you brought another squad mate along, so she just goes on, "My home world just fell and all he can do is gloat!". Like, hello, Liara-- Garrus, Tali, Kaidan, Adams and Shepard are all worried about you as you fall apart, and you expect JAVIK to coddle you and hold your hand too? I always side with Javik, ugh, it's as bad as when Jack threw a hissy fit in Miranda's office.

funny tho that Liara has sympathy for Javik as he mopes on about being the sole survivor of his race and contemplates surrender/suicide. I tell him that he's the best reason to survive that..as he IS the prothean race now.

( one other reason to synthesis..bring back the left over heritiage of his race to re locate, orientate..give'm something to do than lament..how many races did the Prothies 'take out' for their Empire..??? )

I just don't understand what Liara expects from Javik after Thessia.  He's a bitter old Prothean whose only purpose is vengeance.  He doesn't want to make friends and finds Liara irritaring.  She goes into his room and starts the fight.  It wasn't like Javik trolled his way into her room.  With everyone else on the sympathy wagon for her while their own worlds are burning, she should just leave the guy alone.

Javik doesn't even exist in my ME3 experience.

If I had to a chance to redo things, I'm fairly sure I would scrap Javik. I'm not a bit impressed by him.

I'm glad you weren't in creative control of that situation.

I  thought it was great, only  redeeming quality of the thessia mission is bringing  javik.

Not me, the protheans are too important to put on ignore just because Javik cops an attitude..like Liara, only different..lol

I liked Javiks terse personality, but wished the dialogue wheel had.. other responses..lol

(along with Boot mouth Jack vs Edi..for example..)

Jack throwing a hissy fit in Miranda's office was different. I had Miranda on that mission. Miranda saw it. IMO She should have admitted that what Cerberus did was wrong. But since she didn't, and since I had the red/blue option I got to yell at them with the red.

I think whoever wrote Liara's dialogue needs a good smack upside the head. What were they thinking?

Liara was my Shepard's bondmate. Shepard tells her "Use your rage to fuel your vengeance against them."

Do you know what she replies? "I cannot be that callous."

They're the reapers. They're going to turn your people, like mine, into slushies. You don't want vengeance for those they've killed already? Harsh language isn't going to stop them.:?

To be fair, if Liara is genre-savvy she might be wondering when Emperor Palpatine possessed Shepard.

On topic...I enjoyed the "superior Asari" being put in their place a bit, Liara's never struck me as being someone who strongly believed in that or anything though.

You wouldn't have missed him if he had never been there in the first place. Even if I kept 'him', I would have basically kept the personality and dialogue but changed his race to something else. I don't like a Prothean being present just for exposition.

actually, all the races are there for that, including reaperships..that we never actually get to meet one on one..just the noises they seem to make..but still part of the equation...

Yes, but it makes sense for all the other races to be there. I really don't like all the implications of a Prothean being alive. Not without a strong narrative reason to justify it.

like Shep getting resurrected? Many don't/do complain about it, but not know why.. more just curious about it.

(drives me nuts actually, that resurrection stuff..)

I meta-gamed my first playthrough (warned by my friend), so I had enough Paragon points to settle the conflict peacefully between Miranda and Jack.  If I didn't, I probably would have sided with Miranda since Jack was the one who started the fight by barging into her room p!ssed off.  I have to agree with Miranda's comment in the Renegade version- Jack's a child.  Miranda was a Cerberus loyalist to the core, and also had nothing to do with Pragia.  It's the same- what does Jack expect from Miranda?  Miranda truly believed that the Pragia facility went rogue.

As for Liara, yeah, some of her dialogue was pretty iffy.  She's been kicking butt since ME1 and turned hardcore in LotSB.  She's capable of being that callous against the Reapers destroying Thessia.  I like her for the most part, and her random hysterical outburst at Javik seemed out of character.  I'm glad Javik didn't back down- he had no reason to.

I thought of it as Javik being a long lost family member to Liara, as their races are so intertwined. It might be what's the tension between them, or the writers intent to 'impress' that. I've alway disliked the dialogue options because they're seeming inefficiency went thrust into a convo with or around others.

But such is game mechanics, we talk/communicate with the dialogues we have..

Shepard should have a third sarcastic option to tell them both to work out their tension privately in Liara's room.

Anyway, at least Liara backs down peacefully with Shepard's Paragon interrupt magic and finds some common ground and they go on their merry way.  Too bad Javik's going to commit suicide in most of my playthroughs and never finish that book with her :pinched:

Come on. Colonist/Ruthless Renegon Shepard? We were already talking red eye Shepard in ME2. She got a little softer in ME3.

I'm curious. If Liara crying because her homeworld was overrun is an 'overreaction,' what exactly do the behavior and comments on the BSN qualify as?

Liara cries about her homeworld "Quit whining!"
BSN gets butthurt about ending "We're perfectly justified to be upset!"

Liara's "Next time we go to war, maybe the Alliance could spring for air support." line really irked me. Yeah, when Earth isn't under attack from day 1, maybe we'll help you out. For that, I'm glad Javik told her what's what.
