I bought this game yesterday, and after leaving the store I noticed
even though I bought it new, my copy had been previously opened. so, I
pop it in, it installs, but when it tries to login to the Dragon Age servers I
get: 'unable to sign in to the Dragon Age servers, this EA account has been deactivated due
to user request'.
Now, my EA account is working, my PSN account is under the same address and password.

when I go to EA to try to manually link the accounts, the site says 'we
cannot find any information on that playstation network account' when I
use my PSN sign-in ID (email address) and when I use my PSN ID it says
'that Playstation network ID has already been taken. please try another
one.' which is a strange because the option is to choose your EXISTING
PSN id in the first place. I'd really like to be able to play the
supposedly brand new game I paid for, is it possible exchanging it for
a sealed copy will fix things or is there a faster way around this? I
tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game as well with no luck.

Also, 'account management' in the options screen of the game is greyed out.

New copies at EB games are new whether they are sealed or not, so long as they have a white sticker on them. The cases only ever get opened as display copies, and to avoid theft the discs have to be removed. EB only sells those versions when they are out of wrapped copies. There shouldn't be anything wrong with the Disc on EB's end, the problem most likely exists post retail.

I don't think there's anything on the game disk that is specific to your account. There is no CD Key for the PS3 version.

Sounds like the problem is something to do with your EA account and/or your PSN account. Try contacting EA. And good luck... I've never done it myself, there have been a fair amount of complaints here about EA's support.

I wouldn't think so either, I just don't know how the game would even know I have an EA account or not the first time I ever ran it, much less one that's supposedly deactivated by my own request, you know? it's that last part that sort of bugs me, as if someone decided to play it and make sure to cancel/close the associated account associated with it when they were done, and I find it even more strange that the account management option is greyed out, because then even if were simply a matter of a typo or something there'd be no way to change it. I wish there were a way to link EA and PSN accounts on sony's end rather than EA's, because you're right, EA's service and support quality has always been garbage.
