If they have a crap attitude, don't use equipment, and never bother to learn the basics, why are you rewarding them by dragging them to a big payout? You're just rewarding that kind of thinking. That was kind of the point of the OP. If they can't be bothered to help themselves to the extraction by using rockects and gel, why should I force them to keep playing? I'd sooner just have the match end that much sooner and try to find a team that actually does care enough to use equipment and actually gives me a chance to put on it on in the lobby.
Very simple, it has to start somewhere and I do not mind at all working from the ground up with anyone, some will not care, but many do because one of us took the time to get them through a match. I have a mic and i use it, in a very kind way I will offer suggestions and they can take it or leave it.
I have received a tremendous amount of FR because of the way I play, my manifest is done, has been for months so this is my way of giving back. I will run one gold with anyone even if they do not have consumables, the deal is after the match buy one JEP and put something on and I will stay, we will work together and I ill answer any questions if I am sure of the answer.
I may not like what you have equipped or not equipped in a lobby but I won`t refuse to play with you because of it, sometimes the players have no idea, I joined a part biotic gold team earlier today, one of the players was the Huntress yet he had disruptor ammo on, I explained to him in the lobby why this would hurt his game, it led to a great discussion in the lobby and I ran three games with those guys.....I believe in the snowball effect, if I keep giving, it will probably become bigger and by that some of these guys and ladies someday will pass on what they have learned.
Same as in life, you have to give people a chance, some will turn out others will not.

If you start a match solo, I'm assuming you can finish the match solo. Therefore, I will not be using any equipment or gear to make up for your poor decision making skills if you cannot. I will support the team and try my very best to complete the game (if the Server Gods allow), but I will not penalize myself to carry your unprepared behind into a big payout. This applies to all difficulties, but especially Gold, since unlike the lower difficulties, it cannot usually be soloed without a great deal of preparation. That is all.
Also, yes, I am an elist ******. And no, I am not particularly mad.
Why don't you just quit the match if you don't have equipment on? If you do have equipment on, you will usually be able to keep it if you quit out right after spawning.
Another thing, difficulty changes when players join. For instance, hacks and escorts take longer. So, if you choose to stay in the game but don't give it your all...then you are the problem.

I understand where your coming from and I respect your opinion. I'm just coming at it from a different prespective. You literally have nothing to lose at this point, since your manifest is maxed and your sitting on a huge pile of credits with nothing but equipment to spend them on. I'm still working my way toward maxing my manifest. If every game requires me to spend 1/3 of the payout to drag the rest of the team along, it will add, literally, a 100+ hours to the amount of time until I can finish it up.
I'm not saying let all the new players to fend for themselves, but at what point do I get to say, "No, I am not hurting myself to carry you?" I'm currently helping a friend that just got the game for Christmas gear up through Gold matchs, but sometimes I'd like to be able to play a match without having to lose 1/3 the payout in order to extract. Sometimes I just want to jump on and play with a team where each person can carry their own weight, with everyone chipping in a little. In your case, there really is no downside to carrying a team, since you have nothing to lose except a little spare change to the mountian of credits your sitting on. When I get to that point (eventally), I hope I'll be able to do the same. Until then, can you at least understand why not everyone can (or wants to) do so?

That being said, teamwork. Sometimes that means playing with people that don't know any better.
We were all n00bs once, some take longer to figure it out.

Personally, my biggest issue when I didn't host was the roll of the dice on latency. I don't like gameplay issues coming in because of a big spike in lag, so I always host nowadays when PuGging.
If I start a Silver lobby, I'll wait about ten minutes (sometimes less,) but then I'll jump in. I can carry a team on Silver no problem, so if anyone shows up without consumables, or ends up in Silver when they wanted bronze, they'll be fine.
I can't carry Gold, so I'll wait as long as it takes if I start a Gold lobby, or I'll give up and crank it down to Silver.
But if I ended up in another game through Quick Match... I don't know, OP.
If I wasn't going to give it my all, I would just quit right away. At least that opens up a slot to someone who is actually going to do everything to get to the end.

Honestly, I suspect someone starts a match because they get tired of waiting for someone to join a lobby and then spend 5 minutes putting gear on. It gets f'n tedious. I load out for U/U's prior to joining a match because virtual consumables can be replaced with the virtual credits I make from the game.

That not very elitist of you to be pugging. In fact, it's the opposite of elitism.
People don't understand what some words mean on this forum. Elitism, viable, etc.

And I understand and appreciate where you are coming from because I have been there.
What I did however is determine early on, if I wanted to be better, i had to play with players better than I am, I still play with people that are far better at this game than I am, that doesn`t mean I take a back seat, I simply push myself harder, it`s just the way I have always been. Now I am retired - semi-retired and this game beings a lot of rewards, especially since it`s winter here:)
I owe a lot to BSN and many people here for what I have learned, I am determined to pass on what i can.
If you are XB feel free to add me, we have a tremendous amount of fun and most of us get our reward by seeing players grow and get the weapons they want, may sound odd but I find it a great reward. I would also encourage you to continue running some pugs, a few in gold push my abilities to the limit but I actually enjoy that, I take ownership of the team meaning if I am running something better than everone there, I am going to see this through to extraction, I will make the game as enjoyable as I can for them and I do talk in game if someone is in trouble or wants to know something, but I think it also helps me to become a better player. If I only ran gold with friends, it would get boring pretty fast, our games are very, very smooth.
We are switching that up with theme runs which is great fun, pick the worst weapon you can think of and your buddy has to use it and it only next match, same with kits, it adds a twist.
We all have frustrating games sometimes it`s with friends or sometimes randoms, just get back on the horse, don`t let the game or what has been thrown at you, beat you, you are far better than that.
Have fun bud!!
Edit: I see you are 360, I will be on in about an hour or so, let`s run a few gold games...I haven`t looked at your manifest but if you want to run a few Plat, I can get a couple of the ones I run with and we will get you some easy credits, well you have to work for them but not near as much as a pug.

If I start a match, it's because I spent two minutes in lobby and nothing happened. Meanwhile, I want to play Slayer, or maybe I couldn't find unknown/unknown matches in the quick search. I don't expect you to gear up before hitting quick search, but bleeding out is expecting ME to carry YOU. Gelling isn't any expectation, it's just a way of not being dead weight if someone can't get to you in time.

The easiest way to solve your problem is to host. But then when you tired of waiting amd start a game early and then someone joins but doesnt use consumables your head will explode. And we will see a thread that says "PUGs never use comsumables that is why you fail"
