I just wanted to know what the online play consisted of. I haven't really been able to find out how to play online and was wondering if the online play was something where you could meet up with other friends online and play the game with them? If that is the case where do I have to go to do this and how do I accomplish this?

Because of the way the story is, there will be no on-line game. This was talked about in the forums long ago, when they first started talking about Dragon Age on the Bioware forums.
A lot of descuison was talked about and we came to realize that there would just be no way to do it on line.
Now, you can make your own mod with the toolset and have a few friends play with you, I think. But nothing like NWN was.

The online portion of DA:O is strictly for patches, DLC, and updating your player profile here.
