I don't disagree (in fact I agree wholeheartedly that this happens frequently here) but on the flip side, it's also sad how much of the community finds it acceptable to disrespect others because they prefer to play some builds in a way that is not considered optimal but may work better for that individual. I think that is where the current cycle of "hating elitist jerks" is coming from the most. Everyday I see someone say that they prefer a slightly non-optimal talent choice (say duration over damage cloaks) and then watch several people respond L2P noob or "you're doing it wrong and totally gimping yourself" in ways that are just assumptive and, frankly, more than a little b***y.
But really it's all a vicious cycle and most days I find about 90% of the posts I read on BSN to mindnumbingly rude in some regard or another. But I'm almost 37 and I've been on the internet since before it was much to speak of (sparkle gifs and comic sans in the early 90s anyone?) so it's not actually anything I'm not already used to. I mean, I edit wikipedia for crying out loud. This place has nothing on it.

I expected more from this topic. So far there's been only one insult to women gamers, only 3 pages of GallowsPole complaining about reload cancelling, almost no name calling in between members, and very brief whining over the Harrier.
