Does this thread technically violate the moratorium on character discussion in the threads?

It probably does but honestly *shrugs*

Li was awesome! Yeah. I feel like the pieces in Jade fit together better than they did in most of their games.

Oh, erm.  Miranda had potential.  She was an interesting character, at times the dialogue wasn't really the best with her.  There never was a female character that ended up being what I'd hoped for, in terms of strength as a character and being interesting.  EDI and Liara were possibly the only developed female characters.  Ashley had some moments. Liara really just supported Shepard, Miranda never got to do that except in a very formal "I'm your Second" sort of way.  I don't think the story/romance arc with her really ever cut through that formality, which is disappointing.  She had some promise.

I wonder why I didn't like it? BG1 and Jade Empire are the only BW games I've finished and regretted playing (BG1 only as a prelude to 2).

@Steel: So confused. XD

@Alcormin: Yes. Jade Empire will always remain in the top 3 of my best video game twists lists. And I love that it's not a asspull and seems so OBVIOUS when you replay.

@Steel: Leave my poor confused puppet prince alone. :bandit:

@Dragon: It was pretty bare bones. But that didn't bother me so much cause new IP. And it was pretty damn easy (Recommend Jade Empire in Style mod just to give it a new breathe of air. So fun).

I can never kill Loghain again after letting him live once. He's just so much better.

EDIT: Also space Loghain.
And space Morrigan.

I swear honestly I meant to kill him once just to see how it is without him, but then I forgot and saved over my save just before the Landsmeet:crying:

Maybe if I ever do an elf I'll do it, though how they take his head off is beyond me

FIEND! VILLIAN!

:P

eww space Loghain. I have my Shep give a toast to his ashes. Rannoch soon to be a party planet.

Hope it's a dalish. As a CE he tries to sell your family into slavery so plenty of justification for head removal. Really my female CE couldn't take his head off fast enough.

Cause I'm lovely <3

Dalish is just too boring for me to play too long. Bleh. And I have height complex issues when it comes to dwarves so that's a no go.

Just humans and female elves for me.

Though yeah I spared Loghain once. Only conversations that I felt worth it was the dog banter (:crying:) and the Zevran one () otherwise meh I rather have my puppet prince.

Nice! A mod for Jade. Did not know about this.

That said, Jade was pretty different from their other games.

I have to say that I could never get in to the hype for BG1, either. Maybe if I'd played it when it first came out. I have trouble getting in to BG2 again as well, though. Writing wasn't the best even though the plot was fun. Mostly that's how Bioware games strike me, even though the writing is beyond the norm.

Speaking of, that's part of why I like Jade. The type of story it was, I stopped thinking about the writing. If there was a significant flaw in the writing, I can't think of it. Loved the plot that much. It dealt with good/evil in an interesting way, the tone was not taking itself seriously when it didn't have to. It just worked. Not to say any of their other games were inferior.

You should see me on the IT forum, they are all blue blooded paragons who love the geth:bandit:

I get the height issues, my brother played a dwarf and I couldn't stop laughing at him, also because he made him look like Gimli and it just failed.

Human Male, usually mage for me, dat Arcane Warrior =]

I suppose I value combat too much in a game? It's what keeps me from replaying Jade and ME1.

Did female city elf, male dalish (yawn), female human mage (betrayed Jowan), male elven mage (friend to Jowan, angry hothead), and dwarf commoner as Jayne Cobb. I think I actually finished two of them. Never did beat Awakening. Have to get back to it sometime.

If I coulda cloned myself into another body, then merged my experiences later, I would've played all the origins for DA:O.

Now that I have a life of sorts, and haven't had the time to play like that in years, (such a long game!) I am immensely grateful for the Keep! lol.

I enjoyed the combat! So that may explain it.  BG1 combat isn't rewarding enough.  Neither is ME1 combat, for the most part, though I found the Pinnacle Station combat reasonably interesting.  As good as it could get with that gameplay I suppose.

I never got Awakening since I am still a filthy console peasant who can't even get a new Xbox with a decent hard drive

I think its on my Steam wishlist, but I don't have the time for a game like that right now.  I need to wait until a week before finals like I did for started ASoIaF.

Most of mine mentioned above never went past the origin itself. Call it "sampling."

Though I'd strongly recommend the Nexus mod "skip the Fade."

Yeah I like it because learning styles is a matter of how well you play for the most part. (Less hits you take more likehood of learning someone's style from mimicking them). I wasn't that into BG1 either. BG2 I loved (though I would've happily thrown most of the companions into an active volcano).

And yes Jade was fun romp. And the **** just got real moments hit at the right time then right back to kung fu buttkicking. (Plus my fav character models are Jen Zi, Wu and Ming). On the note though Leaping Tiger is OP as hell. It's the only martial style I feel completely comfortable using with multiple armed people around.

And I'm gonna replay it again. I did OP and reasonable CF now time to do manical I'm gonna kill you for the lulz CF. (also I loved how you could turn your companion evil most of the time you're stuck killing them when you've been evil the WHOLE GAME. I hate that so much. Like...really? You're just NOW noticing my character's a complete ****?) So at least the game awards consistency. If you're a douchecanoe and acted like a douchecanoe it's freaking expected for you to be a douchecanoe! (Though apparently only your LI gets the message I wish it had went to all companions. :()

XD I admit the geth could be douchecanoes.

LOL I wish I could make a Legolas elf but BW's character creator was not letting that happen.

Female Human 2HD warrior or female elf mage. I have a female elf rogue I play alot too. My males tend to be mages. Though I did have one typical human male 2HD warrior romancing Morrigan. That didn't go too far before I got annoyed. I tried dalish but god so boring and so divorced from the main storyline it was painful. (didn't help that I played HN right before that).

I couldn't ever do CF, even though it was pretty interesting lol.

I sampled all the origins, head swam with ideas and I never had the time to execute any of them.

I always meant to have a romance with Leliana to full, best conclusion in the epilogue, but never did even though she's my favorite romance option. I did her romance in my first play-through since it just worked out that way, closest I've ever been to having chemistry with a romantic interest in a video game.  That playthrough was re-done later, so :/

On that note I wasn't bothered by any of the romantic interests in Jade. Just seemed fun to do, but not shallow.
