I like her in ME2 and wish she had become the Shadow Broker instead of Liara.
Interesting. The first time I finished ME2 (before LotSB), I was speculating on where the characters would go in ME3. I always figured Miranda and Shepard would find a way to usurp the Illusive Man and Miranda would take over his operations. Not even close. Actually, Miranda was a huge let down in ME3. Her story is basically a repeat of ME2, except she doesn't want Shepard's help this time...but still ends up needing it. Then she pilots a fighter and that's her way of fighting the Reapers? Way to put your stellar genetics to good use Miranda....
That said, Miranda's still one of my favourite characters from the series.
The basket is overflowing with unused potential. Not only from Miranda, but from damn near every named major character.

Love Miranda as a character but agree completely that her role was little more than a very disappointing rehash of her ME2 loyalty mission. She should have been heavily involved in Cerberus/TIM arc but they sidelined her as they did with most of ME2 cast(hers was just the most galling)treatment in my eyes.

All of her scenes in the Citadel apartment were good because she never brings up the family and she never broadcasts come-hither vibes. Miranda stays on-topic at that point by using humor to chat about where she, the other squadmates, & Shepard all stand in relation to each other. And she has her own perspectives about the war.
It's hit or miss depending which part of her story you're at. Family? "Boring" is one of the kinder ways to describe that. War & squadmates? Always interesting because she'd be in Shepard's place if Shepard were dead or never born.

I also think she is a logical romance partner for Shepard. And well, they'll have one heck of a story to tell about how their romance started, she bringing him back from the dead to start with.

Fantastic character in ME2 (one of my favorites in a roster of great characters), who was then completely squandered and recycled in ME3.
I like this human... He understands.

I think it especially stands out in ME3, because she has nothing but conversational dialogue. When she's more of an action character. It isn't that she changed much in ME3 - it's that that wasn't the cool part to begin with.

In ME3 however she felt like wasted potential, her and Wrex should of both been squad members.

She was cool in "action" and in voicing her pragmatism and ruthlessness during briefings. Wasn't interesting me conversationally. Some characters shine to me when telling their stories or perspectives (Jack, Mordin, even ME1 Kaidan), and some don't.

The problem for me wasn't really that she changed or didn't, but that the writers decided that the only thing for Miranda to do in ME3 was to go after her sister...again.

I get your point. Miranda's coolness is indeed mostly in her no-nonsense attitude, her will-power and her fighting skills.

Like most I think she was a huge wasted potential in ME3 where she got sidelined like most ME2 squaddies did. The former 2nd in command of cerberus has nothing to contribute to the cerberus story arc? Oh except for saving her sister....... again.

That's just my theory. ME3 is just so damn neglectful to ME2 that I don't know what else to think. It's like they were under the impression everyone hated ME2.

She was promising until the point where she gets on the ship, where she switches personalities with Jacob and becomes an ice cream queen.
Yep, pretty much!
I liked Miranda as a character, until I realised that I only liked my headcanon version of her.

That said, I tend to side with Jack anyhow (instead of using the cheap persuasion check), so she's pretty much consistently a Cerberus ****.

She kind of reverts back to her earlier (Cerberus B*tch) stage after the Collector Ship it seems (not that there's any relation to that quest.. I just mean somewhere thereabouts. She goes back to being more critical and questioning sympathetic type of decisions). But I agree, there's an odd personality change when you first come on the Normandy. I just try to imagine that TIM sent a memo to her ("Kiss Shep's ass a bit. Oh, and show off your own ass while you're at it.").
I disagree, she changes back in one scene which is the crew abduction aftermath scene AFAIK. Any other scene after Horizon she is an ice cream queen.

She should have had more to do with the Cerberus side of the plot in ME3, simply from a story standpoint, but she did little for me as a character from the get-go. Interesting idea, limp execution.
