I feel like the whole concept of a volus soldier kind of defeats the point of why volus were introduced. Volus function primarily as support characters, and soldiers are pretty much the opposite.

Then again, there's a vanguard.

Volus can be built as support characters. They're really good at that, and the Justicar, Demolisher, and several others can also lay down some good support.

There's nothing stopping the volus from being cigar-chomping badasses other than that pressure suit, though.

That said...

Shield Boost (duh, volus signature power)
Concussive Shot (it's good at detonating, controlling mooks, and can also really hurt if specced right)
Multi-Frag Grenade (same as CS - good at staggers and crowd control and can hurt if specced to do so)

Volus aren't support characters, just as the Geth Engineer isn't a support character. They just happen to have Shield Boost which is great for anyone near them.
