Thank you, but I must admit I don't see what the problem is?
One might consider it emotionally draining.
Yes, but why get drained over something people do in their spare time?

If I may ask a question. What does Toxic even mean?
Toxic is extremely rude, belligerent, nasty, etc.
So when someone says BSN is toxic, they mean it is exceptionally nasty. Which is crap, BSN is pretty much the norm for the internet.

Because they feel some ownership. Because we all, in part, are responsible for the atmosphere of the things we are a part of.

I used to try to make the BSN a more positive place. Then I realized that people need to respect a person to listen to that person.
Plus, like most, I got sucked into the negativity a lot.
Also, if your regular time is stressful and your spare time is spent in a toxic environment, you're bound to get at least a little bummed out.

OK, To sum up what I've learned.
People are talking these forums way too seriously.

No. No more than you take seriously any one thing that you indulge in. A feeling of ownership is not "taking something too seriously."

I take it as seriously as if I was speaking to you face to face. Being behind a keyboard and monitor does not absolve me of how I act or what I say.

But I don't feel ownership.
To me, taking ownership of words and opinions is like taking ownership of every bit gound I walk on.

The BSN I know is made up of veterans like Realmzmaster and new blood like Entropic Angel. It's full of people who are passionate believers in character content like Renmiri and those who are focused on the control our own character to the finest detail like Sylvius the Mad. We have people who believe in Bioware's direction wholeheartedly like Plantiff and those who question it every step of the way like bEVEthesda. We have those with scathing, sharp sit like TheAngryOne and we have those who are a gentle balm with their attitudes like Jillabender.

And I know I am not the best of examples but I would like to add dropping the platform and genre elitism. No you are not a real gamer because your platform of choose is X. No you are not a better person because your prefer RPGs over FPS games and it is entirely acceptable for someone to love playing both.

You don't involve yourself in every bit of ground you walk on.
What would be a better comparison is, taking ownership of say a park you live near. Go to on the weekends. Maybe bring the kids, teach them how to play ball.
Then a buntch of punk teenagers start coming by and playing loud music there late at night and leaving trash all over the place.

That's the thing though, it wouldn't bother me.
Loud music I can just block out, and I find trash no worst than mud, leaves and all the other stuff nature drops on me.
In end, maybe I'm just thicker skinned than most people.

I mean something like an arrogant scvmbag, anti-hero type of guy. Imagine you writing a fantasy-action story set in China. The protagonist is a beggar who in a very brief nutshell, is trying to prevent the world from ending. But also no Mary Sue, half Robin Hood.Darth Brotarian wrote...

Biowares biggest problem is that they're so easy to predict. Why do Bioware games always have to have some damned proud warrior race/faciton cliche? Why do they always have to have this one "I'm an independent woman who don't need no man and am proud to admit it" type? And that's just two of the most obvious examples.
Indeed. Why can't we have some poor homeless tattooed freak cliche? why not some beggar mutants? how about some loser like Peter Parker?
What about hawke? Started as a criminal and pretty much broke and only got out of it due to sheer luck and or willingness to trick a demon out of it's treasure.
