This is like the 50 bajillionth topic you've made along these lines. Get this into your thick head; THEY ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE EXTRA CONTENT JUST FOR ONE ENDING. I hate using the phrase "Deal With It", but that's exactly what you need to do.

What does it matter to you what others deal with or not? Everyone has a right to express their opinions about the game. With these many topics on the topic clearly it's one of the most popular topics out there.....having been on BioWare forums since 2007(old forums) I have learned that what they say they will/not do becomes completely irrelevant if something is popular enough. Why don't you take your own advice and "Deal With It"? :wizard:

There's expressing your opinion, then there's fanatically deluding yourself. I for one am sick to death of the Destroy fanatics demanding preferential treatment; honestly by this point I'm wishing the breath scene had never been in there at all so that people wouldn't have any reason to go on about "needing closure" constantly.

Good God, I hate these endings so much...

Oh, and way to pull the "Forum Veteran" card. Bet that makes you feel so special.

No it wasn't the same treatment the other endings received. Other endings received exposition/closure high EMS received zilch. Other endings got memorial scene, high EMS got random squaddie pausing in middle of bizarre memorial scene which requires serious head canoning as to why on earth they'd be holding a memorial in the 1st place and if they were why random squaddie a was pausing in putting name up.

No it didn't make perfect sense. It would have made perfect sense for Shepherd to tell what happened post high-ems destroy, or have hackett refer to Shep surviving or show sheop being rescued. Something to provide the promised exposition and closure.

Yes, it was the same treatment. Your lack of acceptance of the reality because it didn't turned out like you wanted to be will not change that.

All the endings received exposition and closure through the epilogues.

All got the memorial scene. It was not a random squad but your Shepard's Love Interest that holds the plate if you have one, and I assume other character takes its placed based on who you talked the most, maybe? Not random at all.

In some stories, characters share a special bond that makes them "feel" if their loved ones are alive or dead, and one can argue that's the same thing that happens in high EMS Destroy, hence the person that holds the plate doesn't put it in the memorial.

With the breath scene you may conclude that Shepard is alive and will eventually be rescued, since the Citadel is visited and ultimately rebuilded.

True, but some also need to have the balance of logic and interpretation leveled out to reach those assumptions.

ME is a heroic fantasy. Unless the hero is clearly seen being killed, he or she is assumed to survive.

You can see where some people might have a problem with that.

Breath scene was later. It wouldn't be there if Shepard was dead.

In pop-culture, when someone dies, he or she dies quickly, there is no agony. Unless he or she is making a death speech to a loved one or a battle-brother, but this was clearly not the case here.

Quite so. Which might be why some people are upset that Bioware decided to "retire" Shepard in a way that in their eyes provided very little closure. It's the definite end of Shepard's story - is it too much to ask then to actually get an ending?

I understand the thematic intent, and I agree with you. I also, however, understand the others who must deal with conflicting visual images and storytelling implications in order to reach said assumption.

S/he got and ending. The thing is that was not the ending some people imagined. What's understandable.

Yes it is. This is Bioware's story, not yours. I, for one, couldn't have been more satisfied with the ending we received. How much more closure do you need? You already got the extended cut. Shepard wakes up in debris from the Citadel explosion to take one final breath. A hero's journey couldn't have ended better than that.

Why does discussing the nature of the endings have to annotate any "stage" of anything?

The way I see it the people who want a reunionn scene are doing a very fine job at making themselves heard which over the years has proven to be the most effective way to increase to odds of it happening in game and with BioWare, more often than not, it DID end up happening.

If you have something to ask for in regards to whatver ending you may prefer do it now or forever hold your peace

I'm not going to make any requests because, frankly, the damage has already been done in my eyes. Bioware have made it abundantly clear that they have no intention of doing anything else to the endings, which were already ghastly beyond belief; even the EC was just a case of trying to polish a turd. Any other additions are just that; polishing a turd, not fixing any of the fundamental problems that have plagued this ending at its rotten core since Day One. A reunion scene isn't suddenly going to make these endings brilliant in my eyes; if anything, they'll make it even worse as painting even more sunshines and rainbows on what are already repugnant endings with happy faces painted on. Besides, like I say it means giving preferential treatment to those who pick a specific ending, which is just going to end up alienating even more of the fanbase. It's just a bad, bad idea.

The other reason I'm not making requests is so that I don't end up getting myself hyped for what I'm fairly certain will be of no worth to the game in the grand scheme of things. That way I've got no expectations; if it's good, great, if not, I've lost nothing and will take comfort in knowing that I'm not going to be driven to suicide when it fails to live up to expectations (which frankly some on here sound like they would be if that turns out to be the case).

He took his final breath. Considering the guy who orchestrated project Lazarus is dead, I'd say his chances of being rescued are remote.

Bioware needed to be juat a little less dismissive and explain the approach better, even then McFly, their minimalistic approach was not really good, I am at peace but certain things need to be said

Aria?

Also, because in some point, players would be "forced" to pick Destroy only because his/her Shepard survives... Sure, there is the Breath scene, but that's just to say that Shepard survived the blast, but did not resist his wounds.

And also, almost everyone, if not everyone, knew that ME3 was to be Shepard's final moment.

They can add an equivalent ammout of time with something else to the other endings where destroy would get a reunion the other endings could get a memorial or awkward realization of the team that Shep controlls the reapers and so on.....there's no shortage of ideas and all together do not need to be EC length or size.....less than 30 seconds each would do the job just fine. Plus just because you request something doesn't have to mean you need to absolutely believe it will 100% happen.

As far as I'm concerned anything that adds some more smiles to the endings and takes away from the overwhelming bitterness revolving around them is a great thing.

No there is zero exposition and closure for high EMS destroy. No difference in Hackett's epilogue versus dead shep's destroy epilogue. Memorial scene is built for endings where Shep is dead. Then they added a half-arsed squaddie not placing nameplate up(it certainly wasn't my LI, who was on earth) rather than adding exposition for live Sheps. They promised clarification/closure but apparently i missed the small print where they added that they only considered dead sheps worthy of it.
