While I'm sure some of these have already been mentioned nurmous times I'll list my own list I guess

More demons or creatures from the fade other then what we know of. I make refference to the demon from the body parts quest in the deep roads & Wynn's spirit.

More undead creatures/humoniods, though typical, gorgolyes, ghouls, an undead dragon maybe more of what the dalish elf orgin ghoul friend dude was, though I think he was currupted but you get the idea

A currupted dragon, No I'm not reffering to an archdemon since they're "Old Gods".

There's plenty of Blood mages who wish to be more powerful by siding with demons but how about those who wish to be more powerful by siding with the darkspawn? in the expac there's a darkspawn who can speak correct? Well can he not find humans, drawves, elves & etc to side with and maybe support the darkspawn destruction?

I bet I mispell his name but Avernus was 200 or so years right? Using his knowlege of blood magic to exspan his life, how about a much older & powerful mage who did the same from the old Tevinter Imperium?

More high dragons & dragon cults!

more exploration of the deep roads

that's all i got right now that I think would fit into the lore of this game as for what little i know :(

I remember in Ostagar someone telling me that Mabari were bred by mages. What kind of mage would be content with just breeding animals? The Magisters of the Imperium wouldnt have. Imagine what generatiions of selectve breeding combined with blood magic experimentation could achieve. And then during Tevinters troubles they got free. And bred.

Flesh Golems and Angelic Abominations.

I'd also like to see what would happen if you preserved a life form (person or perhaps just an egg) in lyrium for a few centuries.

I, personally, would like to see what kind of nasties are in Lake Calenhad that make it dangerous to swim in....

And again, I second my vote from page one about giant praying mantises.. manti? *shudders*

Hmm, out of curiosity:
What happens when a demon tries to possess a darkspawn creature? An undead ogre? There might be some interesting variations in there...

Darkspawn tainted humasn are Grey Wardens right? And there already is. Read the Calling. O wait this is a spoiler forum. In the Calling you will find out that Grey Wardens don't die upon "The Calling" they become darkspawn tainted humans. lol I think it will be a major plot in the series. Having a Sentient Darkspawn race... or something like that.

If they included killer bunnies we'd need the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch to destroy it.

I keep including that refference into practicly ever large mod I make, hehe.
I even dumped in in my Freespace 2 campaign.
The Vorpal Bunny Fighter destroyed by the Holy Meson Missile of Antioch III. It's a classic!

They become ghouls and die within a few years.

That is, of course, assuming that they kill all the darkspawn and can't find any more to suicide against.

How about some actual zombies? Not a skeleton possessed by a hunger demon but rather a fresh corpse, give them overwhelm as well. Not necessarily a new creature type but something that I think would fit into current lore.

On the topic of undead, undead animals, who says that the demons of the fade wouldn't posses *any* remains they found? They certainly seem to have no trouble getting themselves stuck in trees...

I'll think of more, just give me some time with the codex and wiki site.

I kind of agree with the whole zombie thing. There is so much potential that could go into that one idea. I guess that will also include necromancers to be apart of the story, but even that has potential(necromancers could be Tevintar mages).

1. Leviathan - One person even suggested leviathans. Honestly, I couldn't agree more. It could be added as a DLC. Maybe a leviathan in is Lake Calenhad?

2. Gryphons

3. Griffins - They're thought to be extinct, so they could be implemented in the story later on.

4. Phoenix

5. Unicorns - But I'm talking about ones that soldiers would actually use so they could have the unicorn ram into an enemy soldier with their horn. One person suggested that it could be a type of unicorn that eats human flesh and is more bigger than a horse with much more "strength and agility". And speaking of horses....

6. Horses

7. Basilisks - Perhaps like the ones as described by errant_knight: "The best representation of the basilisk is found in the decorative field of heraldry where the basilisk had the head and legs of a ****, a snake-like tail, and a body like a bird’s. It seems that the wings could be depicted as either being covered with feathers or scales."

"Regarding his dangerousness rural legends distinguishes three main types. All three had a deadly breath, which could even make rocks crumble.

The golden basilisk poisoned everything by his mere look.
The evil-eye basilisk terrorized and killed every creature by his third eye on the top of a golden head.
The sanguineness basilisk sting made the flesh fall off the bones of his victim "

8. Animates - Animates as in moving statues or a set of armor that could walk on it's own.

9. Gargoyles - They could just be there to guard certain objects from raiders and stuff.

10. Darkspawn Tainted Dragons - As suggested by Elanareon.

11. Warden Darkspawn - As suggested by Magnum Opus.

12. Troll Abominations

13. Chinese Dragons - These are the agile-type dragons  and would be a pity not to put them in.

14. Druids - They could be included with the Chasind.

Griffons ;)

Besides that: Animism. But I'm not talking about walking statues, but Fade Spirits experiencing the world in a less hostile manner than Demons. I'm talking about dryads and nymphs and creatures like that. Maybe even natural golems (not dwarven forged ones but spirit animated rock). They're not necessarily evil but don't think in "human" conventions. They usually hide but do what they think necessary to protect themselves.

Maybe some of them might even become adventurous and explore society. They could even "borrow" bodies of humanoids. Not as forceful as demons, but more like Wynne's spirit. On a voluntary basis. Maybe there even might be small and hidden cults around whose members regard it as a great honor to show the world to a spirit in that way. They naturally stay hidden because of demons and what generally happens to people who are thought of conspiring with demons.

All in all: Silent observers from the Fade who might think the time has come to become more active (again... somehow I'm thinking about the creators atm) than that (Depending on what type of threats the story will have in the future :P)

Hmmm.... or something like that. I think this isn't really new but would give another, deeper view on something already existing of the lore. (Wasn't there a mentioning on dryads in "The Calling"?)

There are apparently demons of hunger in the setting, but they weren't really touched in the game. I was thinking of something like it, but more powerful: A gluttony demon. They possess people that eat excess amounts of foods, or try to urge those who are inclined to it. Their preferable way of gaining knowledge of the material world and understanding it is done by ingesting everything edible in their path. For the actual demon itself, if encountered in the fade, make sure it has a huge mouth full of sharp teeth. One of its special attacks would be swallowing a character in whole. Lol.

Not really a new creature, but powerful demons/arcane horrors should be able to summon wisps and shades from the fade to aid them. Maybe they can create some sort of temporary rift in the Veil.

Since there are arcane horrors (mage) and revenants (warrior) already, there needs to be a thief-based demon too. It would really prefer to hide in the shadows and backstab the hell out of you. High defense (hard to hit), low hp, deadly.

I don't like the idea of elementals resulting in demonic possessions. Demons are sentient creatures (making an oak tree talk) but talking elementals feels wrong.

Elementals made of lyrium given shape my talented mages. They can already control primal energies remember?

Trying to stay with creatures that would make some sense in your setting and the parameters you mentioned.....

Something with Chasind Barbarians would be interesting...warriors, led by a shaman perhaps?

A witch of the wild...depending on just what the true story behind them is of course...

Snakes or some other type of amphibian creature...I like the snake idea b\\\\\\\\c it is not something you see very often in these types of games...

Other blight\\\\\\\\demon infested wildlife....one of my favorite creatures from D&D just in appearance was the displacer beast...black panther with tentacles....Surely, a demon infested creature could look similar....

same thing with the shambling mound\\\\\\\\shambler...an animated\\\\\\\\corrupted mass of plants...or something like a roper...

Weren't giants mentioned in the codex at some point?

Someone mentioned an Ogre Emissary...which would make sense and I imagine quite powerful

a corrupted dryad or similar creature like the Lady of the Forest from the Dalish area...

Golems were sold to Tevinter...I wonder if they were altered or different forms (earth, gem, Silverite, dragonbone?) were attempted....

Some different demon forms....surely there must be some some more horrifying entities that could spring forth from the Fade...always room for diversity here IMO...something big and nasty

I would like to see a hybrid dragons, something along the line of cultists that have been worshipping these archdemons for a long time. Over time their bodies mutated into halfdragons and they guard the underground chambers to the archdemons

I like the idea of Pixies, or mischievous Sprites, that have undergone a huge behavorial change during the Blight. They are an annoyance to your party members because of their high-pitched screeching and humming. They are talking, but only amongst themselves. The only ones who can understand their incessant pining are Elves, who understand the Pixies telepathically. No human or Dwarf can even comprehend the concept of Pixies. So, you'd need an Elf, or an NPC Elf who happens to be in the area, who can interpret the Pixies' plight. At night, the Pixies are a bit irridescent, oddly mistaken for fireflies. The mission of the quest would take the party into a very dark and spooky environment, with the Pixies lighting the way with their twinkling presence. The Pixies begin to get spooked in such a manner that they cannot proceed further. They furnish the party with an accompanying flame that floats before them. The Pixies vanish the way they came, leaving the party to confront a host of dark, ethereal spirits. These spirits are wispy, smoky even, different shades of grey and black, difficult to see at any distance. They have special powers, and try their best to put the party to sleep, to rest, to become spirits themselves. It will be a hard fought battle in a freaky, ghoulish, nightmarish place nearly devoid of all light, except for the Pixie flame. At the end of the battle, the flame lights an everlasting fire that discourages further spiritual possession. As the party leaves the area, they meet the Pixies once more for their reward. They never see the Pixies again.

This brings Pixies into the scope of DA dark fantasy, and they come across as mischievous, a bit mean, and entirely self-centered. But they need help since the malevolent spirits have infested their homeland. It also brings non-humanoid spirit shapes into the fold. And it brings the scariest, spookiest place yet experienced in the DA world.

Are you looking for more types of things to kill or just general beasties that could be good or evil? (sorry if some of these are repeated, I admit I only glossed over majority of the posts)

Water type creatures, like mermaids or sirens, or some kind of creautre that 'appears' to be human, like harpies, but actually isn't. Kind of like the Animal Channel's take on how some predators 'evolve' their appearance to capture their prey. Human shaped, but no necessarily minded. Have you ever seen the movie "9"? There's a part in that movie where one of the robots uses a dead stitchpunk's body as a lure for the survivors. I can see that concept being used in DAO, and fitting. Especially given that there are several dead NPCs we would probably fall for. Just don't make it someone that would cause the sad Alistair face.

If we are going anywhere near forests, more specfically, tropical like forests, man eating giant plants, like Pitcher Plants, or even more commonly known Venus Fly traps. They could even have vine-tentacles that someone people want so badly (since they didn't get enough from the broodmother).

Or, the idea of a man made, biological creature (possibly weapon?) gone wrong. Some kind of 'thing' that absorbs or assimilates objects and other creatures into its being that grows and evolves with each new victim. I could just see the Chantry getting their panties in a huge knot over this new type of abomination/sin/taint against the Maker's will.

As far as good 'types', would a sentient, non talking, none human beast work? You know, like Unicorns, Pegasus, a Phoenix, or you could even do the Chinese Qilin. Wouldn't these be similar to the Halla or Mabari?  Intellegent beasts that chooses it's masters? While I generally like the more 'sugary' creatures, I don't think I would want them in DAO because I could just see my PC all happy and joyeous at finding a baby unicorn only to subsequently have it slaughtered in front of my eyes, and just for good measure to make sure it was dead, roasted on an open fire, and slightly salted for flavor. (yes, i see you evil people smirking their behind your screens. you terrible teribble people Image IPB)

That, and if there are such things as fade demons, shouldn't the opposite also be true? An 'angel' so to speak or Spirits of Chasity/Purity (desire), Temperance/Charity/Generosity (hunger), Effort/Dilligence (sloth), Peace (rage), Humility/Modesty (Pride). Would be very interesting to encounter those.

You could also do different takes on legends, like the ones involving the moon (man on the moon, moon maiden/goddess, moon rabbit, etc.) and have players meet some kind of creature that is tied to Dalish/Ancient Tevinter/barbarian/any other religion.

I'd like to see a "luck" creature. Something that's neither good or evil but could potentially help or harm you - it's all based on a gamble. :) There's plenty of lore about them, but mostly either something is extremely good luck (dragons, tigers) or bad luck (owls, black cats).  Something for us gambler types who likes risks would be peachy.

Just wondering though, when people say faires, do you mean tiny people with insect wings and annoying, high pitched voices? Or do you mean fairies along the lines or scottish lore, like caith sithes, brownies, etc?

I imagine a phoenix as a VERY large bird. Intelligent, but can't speak. Good-natured, sorta lika a dolphin. But extreemly rare or even compeltely new to TheDas. Never before seen, no one knows where it comes from.
the PC could befirend it and it could help him in a big battle - immagine it swooping in, setting fire to everything Image IPB
Or the player could help it in some way..or get a handfull of it's ashes (or feathers) as a reward, that can then be used to craft a powerfull item. Like armor or arrows.

I'm a real sucker for it. I dont know of any symbol (or creater) with more symbolish in it.

phoenixes sound like a really good addition to the game lore, as do the idea of angelic spirits who oppose the demons. But if we really go that far we could boost the number of demon varieties to 7. Seven demons to battle seven angels.

Also, if mounts become an additional feature for future games, we should consider horses which vary in strength, speed, stamina, and constitution in the many countries of thedas. Say Orlais had the toughest horses because of the chevaliers, and the Anderfels had the fastest because of the wildness of the local creatures. But the best mounts would be the Griffins, the legendary steeds of the grey wardens. On the ground their speed would be limited, but in the air, you rule the skies and their beak and talons are priceless. But if you want ground speed and momentum, then a unicorn would serve best, (not the sort that eats human flesh, but evil black varieties could exist). All the races could use mounts, except perhaps Dwarves.....

New playable races also spring to mind, like the Qunari. Strong, battle-hardened warriors with unparalleled strength and willpower, but not as tough as dwarves.

And I also wonder, what if there was a race that was suited best to roguery, but was not as powerful as a warrior. Like halflings or hobbits. Now before we get out of proportion, consider the serious possibilities, being small, their strength is reduced by 2, but they make up for boosted +2 dexterity, +2 cunning, and +1 to willpower and constitution. The perfect rogues.

Vampires - you had werewolves, werewolves fighting vampires is epic. but having vampires on darkspawn taint would even be more epic.

Talking Dragon - like a wise non-tainted old god.

Griffions- either to tame or that are corrupted.

pixies and fairies - you can make them mean evil little buggers.

A giant Phoenix - that can be a big boss fight like a dragon would be cool.

leprechauns - make them evil little buggers that are protecting some sort of treasuer, and maybe with evil voices like the horror movies. get warwick davis to voice one and it will be super epic.

Gargoyles - that can be a form of a mini boss fight protecting something special.

a nightmare demon - one who uses nightmares against your party.

zombies - like a village that got cursed by a mage and eats anyone who enters their villiage with maybe and option to save some by taking out the mage.

a talking crow - maybe going to far here but could be cursed/or possesed by a mage.

please add any of these and I will always love the dragon age series but thats easy since I already do. but I trust bioware could make some of these happen or better. thank you for asking and keep up your great work Mr.Gaider Image IPBImage IPB

With that in mind, do those of you who are knowledgeable of the lore have any thoughts on the sorts of new creatures you'd like to see? I'm not looking for submissions, here, just some thoughts on what sorts of new creatures (or even new types of creatures) that you'd like to see that would still fit into the scheme of things.

Giant insects.
That doesn't fit any of the three categories does it?

I suppose elemental creatures would be a bit too far fetched wouldn't they?
