Okay I was struggling to actually ask, because the question seems weirder everytime I think about it.

So without further jibber-jabber, here's-why-scenario:

To set the scene (and in case she ever reads this), I'm a lucky man who somehow got a beautiful girl who also enjoys things sci-fi, except she's not a gamer. My girlfriend always knew about my fascination with Mass Effect, but never really sat down with me to see what it's all about. Well, she did yesterday, while I was playing ME3 and she enjoyed it. It's like watching a movie - that's what she said.
The scene on Mars, where you'd find the Cerberus Trooper's helmet radio and it becomes obvious that Ashley and Shepard share quite the past together, that was when the first "Ugh" and rolling eyes came.
Then finally -I played until the first hospital scene- she blurted out "Are you really attracted to... this?"

"That Shepard guy" suddenly turned into "me" and I was caught by surprise, because I had never thought about the romance scenes in consideration of my "real romance" before.

So I'm just curious - did you guys/girls ever have discussions about the romances in the game with your significant other?

My boyfriend told me all about the steamy romance scene with Liara, so yes. He also knows about my obsession with Garrus and bought a Garrus action figure for me.

My real life LI is like ash but without the enhanced chest, She wanted to settle down and start a family but i kept putting it off saying " gotta save the galaxy " in ME3 first..... Then that came and went like a fart in the wind and she reminded me of what i said about after ME3 we'll settle down.............


.........Luckily they announced ME4 so i've been using that to prolong my selfishess.

On a side note tho she knows of my disdain of the ending of ME3, So since i havent seen The batman films ( new ones ) and she has, she was confused at the end of the latest one as she didnt know whether batman( bale ) lived or not....... I then said well now at least you have some idea as to what i was moaning about for days on end.

1. Never had a gf see me play Mass Effect.
2. I JUST realized last night just how much my ex looks like Ash in ME3... kinda freaked me out for a sec.
3, Isn't it kinda the same thing that people do with celebrity crushes. I have yet to meet a great couple who do not tease each other about liking, say Johnny Depp and Katy Perry. I think it's natural, but it IS kinda funny to think about.

Oddly enough, I've only played ME between LIs in real life.

Could be some kind of coping mechanism...but I don't think of it that way. It's more like a "what should I do in my free time" sort of thing.

My Shepard romanced Garrus and my boyfriend's favourite ME character is Garrus. Wait, if I remember correctly he played ME with a femShep as well and his LI was also Garrus so... yep.

 Yeah, my girlfriend has realized my deep fascination with Jack. I think she realized it around the time I gotten a huge lithograph of Jack framed and hung in our bedroom. Hell, I even asked her once would she shave hear head to fully declare her love for me (I was of course joking), but she didn't find it so amusing.

She has played ME, and she still don't understand why I love Jack's character so much. But I think this is Just due to the fact she is a Miranda fan<_<

Not ME, but my girlfriend is similar in looks, personality and voice to Morrigan. When she saw me playing Dragon Age ("that game where you get bossed around by a witch") she found the similarity hilarious. She offered to disapprove of my actions more frequently, and also to sleep with my best friend Alistair.

Sometimes when I ask her who she was speaking with on the phone she replies: "'Twas my mother, in fact."

I've been with my husband for 25 years - married for 19 - and he used to game with me regularly in the 90's and into the early naughts. Eventually his hobby interests shifted, but he still enjoys watching me game. He also has me pegged on who I tend to "attach" myself to. As soon as Thane came out of the ceiling in ME2, and started talking, Rog turned to me and said, "Your hooked, aren't you." *cheeky grin*
He generally likes the LI's I choose....he "get's" what I see in them. Except for Zevran....or as he calls him, "Antonio Banderas-Elf" (and yes, he is aware that Zevran is not voiced by Antonio Banderas...heh!)
