Not ME, but my girlfriend is similar in looks, personality and voice to Morrigan. When she saw me playing Dragon Age ("that game where you get bossed around by a witch") she found the similarity hilarious. She offered to disapprove of my actions more frequently, and also to sleep with my best friend Alistair.

Sometimes when I ask her who she was speaking with on the phone she replies: "'Twas my mother, in fact."

My girlfriend games too, which made this less awkward than when I used to play a nation-simulation game online and my girlfriend at the time would throw her hands up and wonder if I was nuts. She's not as big a fan of Mass Effect as I am/was, but she also played it and mostly enjoyed it. That helped too. She's kind of like Ashley (close family, sweet/gentle when you know her but also not afraid to tell you her opinion), although obviously without the whole space marine thing.

She's a big Alistair fangirl, so we're mostly even.

My boyfriend is aware of the Garrus thing but refers to him as "The space cricket you're in love with ". He isn't a Mass Effect fan at all but he has played ME2 briefly. He didn’t get past Omega but I remember he thought Garrus was cool at the time. Then he found out about the romances and it’s something he still teases me about .

I like Garrus and Thane.

It works out just fine. He even put up with my THANE RAGE after ME3. Which... was there. We're planning on getting the hoodies when they come out, the Garrus and Tali version. And we're getting the Garrus one in small, so I can wear it (and he can barely squeeze into it if he wants to), and his tall butt is getting a large Tali hoody, so I can wear it as a poncho.

To be fair, he's the one who introduced me to ME1 way back when it came out, because he's the xbawks guy. I'm the PC brigade. Yeah, we've been dating that long. We tend to joke about the video game crushes. I have full permission to sleep with Nathaniel Howe if he was real. He can jump Bastilla's bones.

The one that baffles him is my Aveline crush. SHE'S JUST SO AWESOME. I WANT TO BE HER WHEN I GROW UP.

I realized it recently, but one of the main reasons I romance Tali is because of her accent. Basically every LI I've had in real life had an accent. Shepard emulates me much more than I was aware of.

My girlfriend is now a huge mass effect fan, thanks to me. She and I both enjoyed playing games before we met. Then I got her into Mass Effect and she loves it.
She knows I have a little crush on Liara, and she's ok with that, So long as i remember which one is a real person. ;p

Okay I was struggling to actually ask, because the question seems weirder everytime I think about it.

So without further jibber-jabber, here's-why-scenario:

To set the scene (and in case she ever reads this), I'm a lucky man who somehow got a beautiful girl who also enjoys things sci-fi, except she's not a gamer. My girlfriend always knew about my fascination with Mass Effect, but never really sat down with me to see what it's all about. Well, she did yesterday, while I was playing ME3 and she enjoyed it. It's like watching a movie - that's what she said.
The scene on Mars, where you'd find the Cerberus Trooper's helmet radio and it becomes obvious that Ashley and Shepard share quite the past together, that was when the first "Ugh" and rolling eyes came.
Then finally -I played until the first hospital scene- she blurted out "Are you really attracted to... this?"

"That Shepard guy" suddenly turned into "me" and I was caught by surprise, because I had never thought about the romance scenes in consideration of my "real romance" before.

Okay, I absolutely burst into laughter here!

I might get a bit of heat for this, but at least your gf has good taste!

As yo your question... No, my bf (well now ex) used to know I played Mass Effect a lot and talked about it almost religiously on the forums. But he never bothered to actually sit down and see what it was all about...

Though being a Liaramancer first and foremost, I don't think he would feel to comfortable about finding out

My husband and I both played the Mass Effect series, and he watched many hours of me playing Dragon Age 1 and 2. Any time I hear Gideon Emery in another game, and squeal with delight, he smirks, and says, "is that Fenris?"

I had to try out every possible romance; while he was happy with Liara. So, umm, yeah, we've both seen each other's LIs.

My boyfriend ist a bigger ME fan than me and has quite the crush on Miranda. He's well aware that I really like and romance Kaidan and Garrus and is totally cool with it as well, although he does tease me from time to time because he personally can't stand poor Kaidan
