Not sure about the marriage part, but when virtual reality goes mainstream you may be able to meet and interact with her and other characters from numerous games.

That will be even bigger than the change from 2D to 3D in the 90's.

My significant other is fully aware that Thane is my space boyfriend. He has played ME2 (but not 3 or 1), and doesn't get the attraction. He's a Tali-guy.

Similarly, he has his own space girlfriends at every spaceport and cantina over in TOR-land.

We have a mutual understanding in this matter.

Yes, because there's been many times my fiancee has been next to me while I've played the various Mass Effect games. Then there's also the figures, T-shirts, posters, Lithographs etc.

LI is (ALWAYS) Tali, by the way

i like her voice and personality. do imagine her as a hot human man. I personally would never date an alien (preferred romances are Ash (if you didnt notice) and miranda), but the only exception would be tali

I have no LI in ME. It's Shepard's dame...also I don't care too much for the romantic side of the story and the only LI story I can kind of like is the one with Ashley... the rest is way too cheesy for my taste.

Also I seperate my nerd life from my real life. While my girl knows that I play games, she is not a gamer, so she considers it a stupid, "boys will by boys" hobby. When I play some ME, she always sais "Ah you play the "Shepard" again."

In my experience these usually don't end well. I joined up in my friends party once with his girlfriend in it and he mentions how much he loved Liara. Her reply was "I know right, she's a much better lover than you've ever been."

...Ouch...looks like someone isn't going to be "Embracing Eternity" anytime soon.

Wow, that's a lot of reactions. Thanks, people.

On some people's replies: This really isn't about "say wether you have a girlfriend or not". Nobody here looks down on people just because they're single. I was just really curious, if I'm the only one who never thought about the ME romances maybe freaking you significant other out - and what the discussions afterwards are like.

My girlfriend really enjoys sci-fi, both as movies and novels. She even completed Hyperion, which I never did. It does help a lot though; while I don't need my partner to enjoy all the things I do, "spaceships" and fantasy universes (not necessarily meaning swords & spells) are such a huge part of my life, I couldn't ever live happily with a person that shakes her head after each time I'm referencing them in conversation.

Many here even wrote that their "RLLI" is also a gamer - well I suppose that saves a lot of explanation on your part then! This raises the question how I would react to the situation vice versa... and I can't imagine, honestly.
Am I gamer enough to write it off as fun, or are games realistic enough to make me at least wonder a tiny bit?

Like I said before, she immediately went on calling Ashley "Boobs-me". I'd say it's meant to tease me being superficial about exterior beauty, (Damnit, I wrote off Ash as a hopeless xenophobe in the first game, until she mentioned she reads books. That was the ultimate turn-on.) but it also had a hint of "Your-Ex"-talk in it. We did not fight about it or anything, neither did she become cranky, but sometimes you can't know what's going on inside someone elses head.

Maybe I shouldn't mention the Cerberus Coup standoff to her then. If I want incendiary grenades and a Revenant to further assist me in combat.

Garrus is my LI and my wonderful fiance bought me the Play Arts figure for Christmas. She also held me as I bawled my eyes out during the Garrus goodbye on Earth.

Though she was slightly confused as to why me, a straight male, who plays FemShep had a male love interest.

She never gets jealous over fake characters. Its real life women she gets testy about.

If I had a Traynor, Ash or Liara fetish she would undoubtedly role play as them in bed for me.

Yet I don't think I'd ever date her in RL, to me, she's Shepard wife.
