Bioware I beg you don't make Origins required for DA3 on PC.

I'm just saying I don't want to have Origins on my computer.  Just make the game stand alone like the first two.  If Origins is required to play this game I will most likely pass it up.

You do realise that your supposed to import Origins into DA2. and probably DA2 into DA3.

I think he means the Origin client of EA.

... I think he means EA's program "Origin", which can be used to purchase their games and was required to play ME3.;)

If the game isn't on Steam I probably won't get it. I'm sure as hell not installing EA's spyware program to play DA3.

How do you play ME3 without Origin?

I'm pretty sure it's EA's decision, not Bioware to include Origins.

He doesn't. He's just indulging in a bit of good old demagoguery.

Oh, just install it, it's a game launcher.

I long for the day these damned publishers are crushed under the heel of someone even greedier than they are...

having to be online all the time to play a single player game is the most absurd thing i've ever heard.

It's not just a game launcher.  It's also a patcher and verifier.

Try to rollback a patch that was installed through Origin.

Good thing that isn't necessary. Origin runs just fine offline -- as long as you set it to offline mode while you do have a working connection.

And that's Origin. Singular.

With GTA IV I allmost threw the game out of the window because of their online requirement system. Annoying as hell.

@ krul2k: I advise editing your post, because I believe the mods are quite strict when it comes to things like this. ;)

I have Origin for the ME Trilogy. I only use it for that and I suspect I'll be using it for Dragon Age 3.

the beauty of Origin is that you can turn it off when you aren't using it. It has not caused a single crash on this computer.

Amen to that. I didn't preorder BF3 and ME3 just for that. I really hope (though I totaly doubt it) that DA:I does not require Origin. And I didn't crack them either (how much longer will I resist?). This 'strategy' simply punishes legitimate buyers....

Sorry mate. EA will do whatever they can to push that piece of software down our throats. I can guarantee you you will need origin to play DA3 as it'll most likely never hit steam. I suppose you could always just crack DA3 to run without origin though. That seems to be the best method. Installing useless software just to be able to install and play a game = no.

Aye. I don't condone pirating but if there's any reason for it, it's  got to be for not wanting to be scrutinized by DRM. But I suppose just buying the game after a big price drop and then cracking it so you don't need origin is fine as well, even though you'd still be rewarding EA for their actions...

This isn't BIoWare's decision; use of Origin is all EA. And I think we can safely assume Origin will be required.

As if steam isnt 'spyware' either.

I really don't get all the hate with Origin, I've had quite a few games that 'forced' the installation of steam on clean machines.

Haven't checked out origin lately, but the only reason i dislike it is that it fails to recognize i'm not french despite all language settings it can possibly read.
