What's this about Host Damage reduction on Phantoms?

I get that... but apparently there's inherent DR as host. Doesn't matter if they're doing acrobatics, the host does less damage to them.
No.
No? No to what... to the topic?
Go take a shotgun to a phantom's face on host on Gold and you come back and post. You'll see what the rest of the community deals with. Unless you're a troll, then in that case, there's beer in the fridge and pizza in the kitchen... But i have to kick you out after 9pm. Don't ask why.

The reason phantoms suck for host is because when they do a flip dodge they get 90% DR. Enemies react faster to the host so many weapons will get a lot of their damage blocked.
This phantoms on host in platinum are a nightmare without stasis or an acolyte. Its easier to warn your teamates and let them kill em.

No, they are not. On host DR is indeed insanely idiotic on Bioware's part, but you can finish them off on host with a vanguard, especially the drell, asari and slayer. Just need to use charge judiciously.parico wrote...

Javelin headshot on host while moving: half barriers and half health.
As far as I aware, this is the absolute only way in the game to hit health without first breaking their shields. That indicates to me that there is a legitimate bug going on here. If I feel up to sniping tonight and finish my algorithms homework I'll take some video to show what I mean.

I never had much of an issue killing them with a melee QFI either. Some setups can be much harder than others, such as that poor krogan in the previously linked video.
But otherwise: Stagger guns, vanguards and hit scan powers make on-host phantoms pretty easy to deal with.

No.
No? Do you even host?
Isuppose not. I talked about this bug today, when i played with my friends and i`m usually the host, they said i`d would imagine things.

When they flip they get huge DR, that's all I know though because biower.
They actually get huge DR just for MOVING, and then EXTRA DR for flipping. Combine the two and they are invulnerable.
Cloaks a claymore blast to the face, phantom takes ~2 bars of barrier damage because she was moving. Seems legit.

What I tended to do in the past was lure phantoms to my teammates to help me take them out. Teammates make great distractions.

Again, incorrect. You need to stagger them with any power and then finish them quickly. I do this (though not reliably) with proximity mine, energy drain, overload. But as before, I totally loath the DR. 3 up close claymore shots and only take away 3-4 bars off her barrier. Are you kdding me?Mr_Adlib wrote...
As others have said, when playing on-host against Cerberus you HAVE to have a weapon specifically to deal with phantoms if you're not a vanguard or have a phantom killing power like stasis.

uhh no. They get the DR as long as they move, period, against the host.
No, they don't. The DR only persists for the period during and shortly after they flip. Try coax a phantom up a ramp on host (they don't flip on ramps if you force them to run up it at an angle) and shoot them. Bingo: no flips and lots of damage.
Huh, didn't know this. Thanks Annomander.

My preferred char was a lvl 20 soldier but I got both the Asari Justicar and Asari Huntress unlocked the other week. the vast majority of my weapons, including UR's are at lvl 10. The mods and gear are lvl 5.
To kill using soldier, use CS to stagger (I just have the Mattock with Extended Barrel V or Piercing mod v and an Arc Pistol X with Pistol High Calibre barrel and S/L - this keeps my speed at 140%) so in combination with The CS which has cooldown of about 4 secs and shooting with Mattock I can usually kill them with a couple of shots on Bronze without help. Even on a Gold match over weekend it still only took about 4 to 5 shots.
Then I tried the Asari Justicar with Geth Plasma SG and Arc Pistol I tried the Acolyte didnt like it). I was killing them even easier with fully charged weapon one shot plus a single CS. In Bronze/Silver PUG's I kill most of the Phantoms. Most randoms run the other way when they see a Phantom.
There are some very good players on here saying that they have this problem on-host, I just wondered why I don't seem to suffer with it, because I am reasonable but haven't played a single Platinum match and not hundreds of Gold either. Though I've complete SP campaign for all three games on Insanity.

Phantom Recruit: What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?
Kai Leng: No, Phantom Recruit. I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready, you won't have to. *trollface*

Difficulty you play at is absolutely relevent here. Weapons don't scale with difficulty, enemy health does. What kills a phantom on silver won't kill them on gold, let alone platinum. Furthermore, there is a big difference between 2 phantoms and 4 phantoms. With only 1 or 2 phantoms at a time, it's not so big a deal to require 2 sniper shots to kill one. With 4 at a time, it's pretty terrifying.
Also ftr, I've done all 3 games on Insanity as well, and it is easy mode compared to even bronze, let alone gold and platinum.
