Phantom Recruit: What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?

Kai Leng: No, Phantom Recruit. I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready, you won't have to. *trollface*

You win.

Difficulty you play at is absolutely relevent here. Weapons don't scale with difficulty, enemy health does. What kills a phantom on silver won't kill them on gold, let alone platinum. Furthermore, there is a big difference between 2 phantoms and 4 phantoms. With only 1 or 2 phantoms at a time, it's not so big a deal to require 2 sniper shots to kill one. With 4 at a time, it's pretty terrifying.

Also ftr, I've done all 3 games on Insanity as well, and it is easy mode compared to even bronze, let alone gold and platinum.

Hi Dunvi, Yes I realise that.  But Although I don't play Gold all the time, I've played quite a few matches.  Can't access my profile at the moment but regardless you have the Dragoons and Phantoms and more of them.  I just see a lot of ppl say this about Phantoms.  I will try a few off-host matches and see if there is a difference.  I did go on one other week but it was so laggy, really bad.

I wasnt clear on the comparison with SP but it was about 2am in the UK, so apologies.  what I meant was that I find the SP far easier than the MP.   suppose there are many factors not present in SP such as lag, having two computer driven squaddies, etc.  That is why I haven't done Platinum.  I find Gold difficult because so much depends on the team You have and I tend to PUG :(:alien:

Noted.
Wait for the inevitable gif where I charge into a sync kill.

It's pretty rare if you obey the rules of sync kills, and you're not lagging too badly, and get your fist timing right.

Basically, you should already have your fist raised by the time you come out of the charge (and conveniently, with blade armor on you're invulnerable as long as you're heavy meleeing).

BBV is one of my favorite ways to deal with Phantoms, along with the Charge -> Nova -> Heavy Melee -> Charge of the novaguard.

I dunno about 90% DR while flipping but when I'm the host they survive TWO FREAKIN SHOTS IN THE FACE with a Claymore X.
This is depressing.

As others have said, when playing on-host against Cerberus you HAVE to have a weapon specifically to deal with phantoms if you're not a vanguard or have a phantom killing power like stasis.

What I tended to do in the past was lure phantoms to my teammates to help me take them out. Teammates make great distractions.

Again, incorrect. You need to stagger them with any power and then finish them quickly. I do this (though not reliably) with proximity mine, energy drain, overload. But as before, I totally loath the DR. 3 up close claymore shots and only take away 3-4 bars off her barrier. Are you kdding me?

"Not reliably" arethe key words here. Also, energy drain and overload don't stagger phantoms. When you see one you have to kill her quickly. And you're not going to do it with a claymore dude. Better off with a GPS.

Maybe now you'll stop hosting and let me deal with the little harpie's DR.

Now you understand why I'm always screaming "DAMAGE REDUCE THIS B^%&$" at random times when I'm host.

Staggered phantoms have no DR. Using CS or a GPS negates this problem entirely.

Yeah, we shouldn't be required to take a specific weapon to stagger, idealy we shouldn't have this problem either way.

The reason phantoms suck for host is because when they do a flip dodge they get 90% DR. Enemies react faster to the host so many weapons will get a lot of their damage blocked.

Anyone know why they'd add that?

Because the game won't be challenge without bull**** from enemies. Plus Biower definition of difficulty is cheapness.

I remember that homeworlds comic with Liara. I was wondering how one Phantom did all that... then I remember the DR and sync kills and then it made sense

All you can really do to counter it is bring either a GPS, scorpion, or falcon to stagger her in place. I'm pretty there are other weapons out there like the kyrsae but I don't think flicking pebbles is a good idea.

Acolyte + biotic abilities, Shadow Strike, Biotic Charge etc.

Snipers or weapon kits who host are screwed, mind. I usually bring a Scorpion secondary but sometimes I forget.<_<

Kishock and Grall work against phantoms on host.  My favorite way to deal with them is to stare them down with a batarian when they come right at you with that "nothing stops me" move they have, aim in/scope on their face, and pop their head off with kishock or graal, then giggle insanely as they rag doll high into the air with big spikes in their face.

90% DR while moving, near Godframes while flipping

I can agree on that phantom DR on host ist BS, but at this time it is really the only thing that keeps the game from being A LOT easier on host.

Think of it this way, it makes that mid-air, upside-down headshot that much sweeter.

Just to clarify for people:

The Phantom does not have 90% DR. Not even while flipping on host.

It is 75%, with a small window of 0% just before and after the flip.

Doesn't feel like 75% becauses sometimes you do not even scratch her barriers especially during those times when she does not stop flipping. My guess is her DR somehow stacks into 100%

It could be the visual thing where her barrier bar doesn't update properly(all units can do this).

Her flipping DR is just applied while moving on-host, but it doesn't multiply with itself while she's flipping.

I tested it and it showed that it was 75% DR most of the time, with a small window(about 2-3 Avenger shots) of 0% damage reduction just before and after the flip while she's not moving.

Cyonan, what about the bubble? On host you can empty Harrier clip into the head/top of bubble without making much of a dent. Have you tested this maybe?

It seems to me that all enemies get some type of immunity frames based on animations, like reload animation for instance. But this is just untested observation on my part. I host 99.99% of the times.
