This might have something to do with the fact that only 18% of the players choose FemShep (and most of them romanced Liara, if we believe the polls).
This is not even remotely accurate. At least not according to our poll of 6200 individuals.
What is not accurate? The "18% femShep player" thing is an official Bioware statistic for ME2 (Mass Effect final hours app). So we can assume it's accurate. Liara being the most popular femShep romance is not an official statistic (as I have said). That was the only femShep only poll I found that has a high number of votes...

I don't know if this is the poll referrenced by Barquiel or not, but this Tweet is talking about the massive Towards A Concensus survey done several months back. It tracked quite a few things, including Femshep vs Broshep, and favorite LIs. Bioware even helped to promote the survey, before they received the results and then buried it for the reasons stated above. (None of the results of the survey were applied to the EC; which was in development at the time.) Btw, the Bioware statistics that Merizan referrenced above have yet to be made public.
Pathetic, really.

She does fill that niche for people who play FemShep only for girl on girl action. I refuse to let any of my FemSheps touch her.

BioWare seems to be going after men who think lesbians are hot. I might be an anarcho-capitalist, but Dear God, sometimes keeping loyal fans and getting their money is better than changing the series just for short term profits.
This is why I give Dragon Age lots of credit. There was never a disproportionate amount of male-to-female romance options, and in DA2 you had two (gasp!) gay male options (granted, because "everyone was bi").
Also, the elves weren't relegated to an all-female race that didn't understand the concept of personal space.
If they had made Vega a romance option in ME3 it would have soothed some of the burn left by Thane's more-than-lackluster romance, but alas. Thank gawd - THANK GAWD - Garrus was my LI of choice...I truly feel bad for lady-gamers who had their main FemShep hearts set on Thane.

I love me some Garrus too, but I agree that those who don't need to be penalized. And if making everyone bi actually helps, so be it. I guess in the future, nobody discriminates based on what heat you're packing.

I'm not even arguing that I feel bad for Thane-mancers because he died, just that his ME3 romance content & the way he was treated post-death (as if he never existed) was horrendous. Crap, even his non-romance specific content was awful if you compare it with how you left him in ME2 after completing his loyalty mission - that man would *not* be wasting away in a hospital.

Does Shepard still stare at Kaidan's butt after the Citadel Coup if you romanced both Kaidan and Thane? I never imported my Thane romance after seeing what happened to him on my first playthrough. I really don't understand why they didn't give you the romance achievement for Thane, or at least have him relive the memories of your romance scenes from ME2 when he dies.Walsh1980 wrote...
Since there is hardly any reason to, the only ME2 romance I carried over was a Thane character. Basically I had a faithful Kaiden LI and went back into ME 2 and romanced Thane, told Kaiden that he hurt my feelings on Horizon so I went with Kermit, let Kermit die then went back with Kaiden. He was understanding.

^well, in ME it hardly matters with "everyone is bi" - FemShep would still be overwhelmed with lesbians & MaleShep would get even more options.

I'd love to cure him, even when he's not my LI. Thane is a cuz.

I've heard it mentioned by other forum peeps that one of the developers admitted that they "dropped the ball" and "forgot" he was a love interest. I've never seen a citation for these quotes but...it certainly seems plausible considering everything.

The game is purposely set up so Shepard can easily transit from romance to romance with little consequence. Well, femshep gets chewed out by Kaidan in the hospital and all she can do is apologize instead of, screw you I moved on, but you know. Oh and manshep can possible see his womenz get into a little catfight.
I could go on about a bunch of other stuff, just know that the lesbian brigade is always, fully available to give your femShep sweet loving. Kaidan will be available if you give him booze. Otherwise he friendzones you and you just have the lesbian brigade.

Do people really play as FemShep just for the lesbian scenes?

After Thane died, my femshep only had lesbian options. I'm a female player... so you can only imagine how messed up that was. My own male siblings couldn't believe that BioWare had such nerve to pull this. Their outlook on it was this: "If my LI died, I sure in the hell wouldn't want to be left with male only love interests". I believe most can relate to this.

Yeah, I would need to see a citation for 18%. Also, considering players weren't playing online for ME2, I would be curious as to how BW arrived at that number.
..........snip........
Online XBox...I used to play XBox, did most of my ME2 runs on XBox and it was made very clear stats were being taken from my game via the connection to what they called the 'Cerberus Network'.

Liara technically isn't, but the femShep who romances her is.

Not only my Shepard can't romance anyone after Thane, but also I can't imagine her, even if there was someone she would be interested in, romancing someone few days after the death of her lover.... Really? Did that mean nothing to some Sheps ?
Well i didn't romance Thane but yeah if they killed my LI i'd be more concerned about the fact they didn't give the sort of content to do a death justice than the bizarre idea of finding a new partner.

At that point, your Shepard was at a crossroads. Honestly, even if I was roleplaying a straight femShep, I would probably make up some ridiculous reason for her sudden interest in Liara after Thane died. Flying solo at the end of ME3 would just be awful.Squeegee83 wrote...
@EpicBoot2daFace: Yeah, I did kill Kaidan. So without him, the whole LI experience went south for me.

I'm a (mostly) straight male, but since I often roleplay as a woman, I was pissed too. Hell, I'd even like to try Javik.

I can confirm that....my manShep is single, but I did do one run in which he romanced ME3 Ash...the Earth finale and run for beam felt so much richer with love in his life.

Garrus always makes me feel the best. I hate how his romance scene is short, but damn he is so sweet. <3
