Using your Avenger would also be a fitting tribute. From the wiki:

Zaeed will recall fond memories of his old assault rifle "Jessie" (an M-8 Avenger assault rifle) if you select it from the table in his room. He reveals an almost unhealthy attraction to the rifle as more and more stories open up throughout the game. In one instance he remarks to Shepard that he would "trade in every weapon in my possession for just one more mission with that ****ty old rifle..." He mentions he retired the rifle 5 years prior to the game, but has never had to re-sight her once. He also mentions that he "cut through a hundred Batarian mooks without ever ejecting a clip". In Mass Effect 3, intel from Liara's console shows that Zaeed recently purchased a variety of items, among them an M-8 Avenger Repair kit, implying that he may be attempting to repair Jessie before the battle for Earth.

I'd just got round to playing the ME3 campaign again and read this last night in the game. I chuckled when I saw the bit about the M-8 Avenger Repair kit. You can also hear his voice on other Bioware games. Tis a sad day. Thanks for the topic.

really dude? then don't post in threads like mine. if you don't like it, then don't post.

Mad bro?

I'm guessing it's less about being mad and more about being shocked that somebody could be so insensitive about something like this. Thread wasn't about if you liked Zaeed or not, it was to pay tribute to his voice actor who just passed away. Have some respect.

Except they're not honoring the VA, they're honoring one cookie-cutter side character he voiced. When I die, I sure as hell wouldn't want someone saying "Oh he played ME3, we should all play ME3 to honor him" because playing ME3 isn't what I want to be remembered for.

Not all of us can show up for his burial, so people invent other means to pay respect. And frankly, the fewest in here ever know more about Robin Sachs than him being Zaeeds voice actor. So how could they grieve for a man they never knew? Instead they can grieve through that which connects them to this man, in this case the character of Zaeed.

People die every second of every day. People you may not know or have only met in passing. Do you greive for them too, saying "Oh I saw him on the street one day"?

I'm not an insensitive ass, like some people believe. I'm sure it is a tragedy for his friends and family, and I am truly sorry for them. I think what you did, Neofelis, is more appropriate. A moment of silence. But honoring a character that isn't real just because someone did some voice work is disrespectful to that voice actor. It would be like you dying and people saying at your funeral "He was a BSN poster so let's start a thread in his memory which will probably be locked because it's not MP related".

Of course I wouldn't grief for any total stranger that bites the dust.
In fact I find that a particular birthday song that goes on about how one would have been missed had one not been born a complete and utter exercise in hypocritical idiocy. Obvsiously no one would miss someone they never met.

Alas, Robin Sachs is not a total stranger. And his passing can genuinely be upset people that like his worked. So there is nothing wrong in grieving. The how is irrelevant. Everyone has his/her way of dealing with any particular losses, be they dear or distant and I think berating people for their supposedly inappropriate ways of expressing their grief is just wrong.

I would also of course say that no one in here is paying their respects. Respect has to be earned and voicing a likeable (or not) character isn't really something that connects one another. Respect is something inherently interpersonal, like friendship, after all you can't respect someone you don't know and you can't truly judge how respect worthy someone is until you "truly" know someone good enough to understand him/her.
So people, as per my opinion, aren't paying their respect here at all. as they are fundamentally incapable of doing so, and are thus incapable of being disrespectful too in this context.

But I think that is already a bit too sophisticated, I am derailing this thread with personal ethics.

At least someone isn't so far gone that they can't understand what I've been attempting to communicate.

Can't say I've been ever a particular fan of Zaeed the character, but sad to know that a talented man has passed.

Rest in peace, Mr. Sachs.

Eternally Yours

I said I loved you so,
Before you turned to go.
You said you might be back,
But didn't really know.
The words took me aback,
And made my world black.
Now I feel so alone,
The cold chills me to the bone,
And I cry like I've never known.
I hope that your love endures
Because I'm eternally yours

Please shoot me. Put me out of my misery.

Yes you're quite the insensitive ass, furthermore your claims of us honoring the character and not theman are damn stupid. With nothing to connect him to me other than a fondness for his professional work, that he no doubt spent years honing his skils to do so well, how else can I honor him but to honor one of his life's works that I am well familiar with?

So what you're saying is nobody is allowed to be sad when somebody whose work they enjoyed passed away? He was an entertainer and people enjoyed his work. Be it through video games or TV or whatever he happened to be involved in, he had fans. I loved his voice acting for the characters I've heard him voice (Zaeed and Saul Karath from KOTOR) and it's a shame he passed away. For you to come in here and trash Zaeed in a topic made to mourn the person that did his voice over is extremely disrespectful. For you not to see that, I don't even know what to tell you.
