I'm actually in the process of doing just that. Several characters, actually.

Anyone can make one just as good. Look at Sasuke from Naruto.

Sasuke: My brother killed my family so I'm going to hunt him down and kill him.

Zaeed: My partner stole my organization so I'm going to hunt him down and kill him.

See what I mean? It's the same cookie-cutter revenge seeker character that has been repeated continuously for years.

But in defense of Sachs, it wasn't him that made the character, it was Bioware.

you just don't ever get it...

each character that a actor/actress makes and lends their voice to that said character is deep, deep belief and it is very deep part of the person much as their own character counterparts. in a sense, Robin Sachs is very much alive as Zaeed Massani. but his body may be forgotten or erased, but the spirit of him will live on forever through his characters.

so speaking from my view, when i play or work with Zaeed, i feel like he's alive and is with me. i can actually interact with Zaeed on his opinions, views etc etc. that's exactly the point  that most of players have that relationship with said characters. 

i even like Legion, Liara, Miranda, David, Ashley and rest of the crew because i feel at home with those characters.

So you're saying that because Robin Sachs voiced Zaeed Massani, that he really actually created Blue Suns, was betrayed, shot in the face, and was on a revenge driven hunt for the one who shot him?

I think you need to try to separate the game from reality a bit.

You really are heartless aren't you? I'm disappointed at his death because I enjoyed his work with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Vampire Circus, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect. Am I stupid for being disappointed about it? Did you get pissed at people for crying when Michael Jackson died? Did you get pissed when metalheads all around got sad when people like Dimebag Darrel, The Rev, Paul Gray, Ronnie James Dio, Pete Steele, and Vitek died? Sure, we didn't know them personally, but are we permitted for feeling upset that someone we respected and enjoyed the work from died? No, we aren't. You sound like a real f*cking ass Kira, and you just need to shut the f*ck up. You have no right to tell anybody how to feel.

Actors and possibly voice actors usually work to put their essence (not literally) into the characters they play, and while I didn´t know much of Robin Sacsh, I wouldn't be surprised if he did as well. Plenty of people are remembered for what they did. Cervantes is remembered fondly for creating Don Quixote, Schwarzeneger for playing as the Terminator, etc etc. Plenty don't know of Cervantes or Ahnold's personal life, would it be wrong to honor them for the work they did?

When you are immersed into something, you can fantsize about being in such a place, which is why people fascinate with lore and stuff. Sachs contribution with Zaeed is virtually the same. He interpreted a character in a way he can be related/believable to people, withpout necesarily making it real. People are honoring the result of Sachs work. Just that. You might disagree with the methods (which in the end, don't seem to harm/offend anybody, so far), but I would invinte to respect/tolerate the intent.

As a former actor (who played Don Quixote in high school), I applaud you.

Honestly, the moment he started typing in this thread I just lost all respect for him. I mean, sure, Zaeed is another revenge seeker, yeah, Zaeed's a tad cliché... two things, though: First of all, assuming this thread was even ABOUT Zaeed (it kinda is, but it's more about Sachs), that's honestly one of the things I liked about his character. He was a revenge seeker, but he was so entertaining about it. He was a bit cliché, but it was the good kind of cliché, not the "my soul is black as night, I'm so emo, uuuuuuggggggggggghhhhhhhhh" kind that's normally associated with the revenge seeker. Second... Robin Sachs isn't a fictional character. He's a breathing human being who apparently died not too long ago, and it's one of my philosophies to, no matter how bad the person was, never talk ill of them. It's a damn shame others can't take that to heart.

And also, I found your contribution rather humorous. 9/10 would bang again.

If you has said he was unbelievable then that would be a criticism of the actor. To say you hated his character and blame it on the actor shows stupidity. Nothing more, nothing less.

Condolences to his family and friends. His work enriched many peoples' lives.

(I always sign my posts with "have fun".... in this case it is more appropriate to remember how much fun I had with Zaeed, whether my Shep hated him or loved him. )

Zaeed was an awesome character. His stories showed another side to the ME universe. His quest for revenge puts a Shepard-defining decision in front of the player, and those moments were fairly rare in ME2.

All in all, I think people attacking Kira are way more disrespectful then he is belived to be for "attacking" Zaeed's character/his voice actor. Instead of taking a polite discussion he is being flammed. And he is called inmature, ironically. Though I must agree - his first posts were kinda provocative.

But calling him heartless, cold-hearted is really out of place. Children, men, women die by thousands in Africa due to famine. Do you grieve them? Do you find time during a day to reflect upon this? No. So don't you dare calling him that way. It's inappropriate.

I actually think that people (on the forums) are, in general, overreacting with his death. Ok, he died. I'm truly sorry for the loss the family took. One topic for expressing your feelings and sending condolences to the family is quite enough. And Operation dedicated for actor is infantile. First, it would be Bioware's trubite, not your own. Second, the MP players would play nontheless, making it quite...normal, usuall. I'm not saying grieving him is bad, but do it the right way - by writing few nice words in one topic. And move on. Remember him, but move on.

Man, I am not happy to hear this. I cannot believe that someone is in this thread posting their negativity over and over again. Absolutely absurd and in extremely poor taste (and utterly indefensible).

That out of the way - man I loved his voice. Whether you liked the character's writing or not, I think his grizzled old voice added a lot of richness to the game. My favorite was listening to him wax goddamn nostalgic about old missions. Love the actors who take their characters beyond the writing.

I really love how games are giving these great actors a place to shine and show their talents outside of cartoons and animated movies (nothing against them at all though). Games have impressed upon me the value of great voice actors probably more than any other medium.

Sad that I won't be hearing him in any future rolls, and condolences to his friends and family.

RIP Robin Sachs. His acting work was tremendous (I first heard his work in Galaxy Quest, where he voiced General Sarris aka the bad guy) and brought a lot of people, including me, a lot of happiness. My thoughts are with his family.

Anyway, I'm sure most of you have seen this, but I made a suggestion for this weekend's operation, which is in Robin Sachs' memory. You can check it out here if you haven't already.

I always loved Zaeed's character, and thought he was one of the coolest, and more unique characters in the game, despite just being a DLC character. I remember Robin Sachs from some other sources as well. My condolences to his family, and Robin, may you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

I'm not going to defend Kira, but I have two issues with this thread. First of all attacking him for his poetry is just pathetic, it just shows to me that those offenders have nothing better to do with their time and are "honoring Robin's memory" by essentially stalking Kira to find something to make fun of him for, when he at least is putting his work out there. And second, people need to work on reading comprehension and learning what certain words mean, because frankly put, they're doing it wrong.

And again, I don't agree with Kira, if you feel connected to Robin in some way you should absolutely celebrate his memory, but I'm a little annoyed with the arrogance of some people in this thread.
