Played a couple games...  i never knew how terrible this weapon is til they "fixed" it.  

Oh... don't like it don't use it? Show me another weapon that will strip shields...

Was lift "fixed" too? It doesn't appear to work now either (talking about non-shielded enemies)...

I prefer charge-up version as well, as it balances the gun and gives it a unique style.

Charge your weapon immediately after shooting. You can continue using your powers as the weapon charges, but typically you shoot charged Acolyte, simultaneously sending Pull/Singularity. Immediately start charging again and before the time your CD is done, weapon is ready to fire again.

Bryan and/or Eric, I would like to ask you one thing: can we hope that one day Explosive Rounds won't be as useless as they are now? All they do is clogging our inventory and wasting our credits.

I just use recon to blow the s*** out of everything and homing nades to help deal with bosses quickly.

I did point out in a previous thread that there is the reegar carbine bit it's so heavy that power users will have to sacrifice their recharge speed. Not only that but you have to be pretty close to use it so that gun is suited for the more durable, in your face, non-power users.

@Eric/Bryan - acolyte is returned to its "shipped state" - does that mean original or with all subsequent balance changes (read nerfs) other than charge mechanic?

specifically:

December 18, 2012
Acolyte Pistol
- Base damage decreased from [420.2-490.0] to [378.0-441.0]

...becawz...will take the increasd damage over chargeless mech any day and twice on Canadian holidays...:o

I liked the uncharged version. Just more fun to use.  Mostly.  Charged version is more useful in a few cases.     I wouldn't actually say it was better ether way, just differnet.  

They should just put the uncharged version in a DLC and call it the Postulant  then everyone is happy.

Well hopefully less, that's the whole point. The uncharged Acolyte has literally no downside was being seen on weapon kits such as the Destroyer. Hence it was squarely in the aim of BioWare's nerfbat (was nerfed once, and was in line for further nerfs). However, now the scrubs and moaners will stop using it, the learning curve to it imposing balance on otherwise great weapon, meaning the devs won't touch it:)
