Or more accurately, it's innacurate, it has a small clip and it takes most of that clip to kill a basic normal enemy with body shots on Silver and needs more than half a clip of headshots for notmal enemies on Gold. And then ther'es Platinum which it simply can't handle. Among the other SMGs, the Locust is actually pretty good with headshots and a scope at long range, the Geth SMG is a bullet hose, the Shuiken is the lightest gn in the game, the Collector SMG is both light and powerful and the Tempest and Hurricane are both fast-firing, well rounded weapons. I never thought I'd say this but yes, the Hornet is worse than the Shuriken. It needs more damage.

Again, the problem isn't the recoil. There's a mod for that. The problem is the damage. More like use it on a Drell, Geth, Destroyer or Quarian Soldier.

Yeah, its pretty bad. The power output just isn't worth the recoil penalty.
Either buff it by reducing the recoil or upping the power, but either way its a pretty useless weapon.

I hate it too, but don't know if it's worse than the Shuriken, I don't think I've ever used that weapon. Definitely like all the other ones a lot though.

It is worse than the Shuriken.  I used both just to see.
Shuriken has less recoil, better weight, a bigger clip, and it's a common.

Uh, the Shuriken is the worst weapon in the game. If you're half decent you can make the Hornet work for Gold and below, but it is indeed kinda weak.

Not a bad gun if you can control its recoil and give it armor piercing. It was my SMG of choice back when I had no Hurricane, no Tempest, no CSMG, no GPSMG....nvm, it's pretty subpar.

In all seriousness, while I'll defend the Hornet as not as terrible as it seems, it could use a damage buff.

Protip: OG turians have a higher racial weapon damage passive than any of the races you listed, in addition to stability bonuses that'll save you a mod slot.  Also, both have debuff abilities that'll further enhance your damage.  Maybe you should think before giving such a dismissive response.  

Racial bonuses won't slow you down (Dev Mode), make you squishier (Hunter Mode), or force you to spam an ability (QS' Marksman).  I'm not saying any of those options are bad, nor do I agree that a turian is the only race which makes the Hornet good, but dismissing the suggestion on the basis that it doesn't solve your purported problem when it's arguably among the best solutions is borderline stupid.  Wait, forget the borderline part.  Just regular stupid.

The hornet isn't bad. I wouldn't mind a damage buff but, who wouldn't. Using it on a weapon character is probably not the best idea unless it's a sidearm. I like it on casters, particularly on the vanilla engineer for a ammo effect application tool.

...What? Just... No. The Hornet is, in my experience, the best SMG behind the obvious Hurricaine. The Tempest has a decent clip but low damage, the collector SMG is abysmally weak, the Shurikan is just awful in every respect, and the locust might as well fire snowballs for all the damage it does. Geth SMG. Hornet, and Hurricaine are the only SMGs worth using. They're all underpowered. Extremely. The Hornet is an excellent sidearm, or a good primary weapon for casters. At level X, anyway. I have never had any of the problems you describe with it.

I finished the challenge for SMG mastery for the hornet so I'm 70% into the challenge for outsider but I don't think I can do it. I can't take another game with that thing.
