That was a thing of the past once my CSMG got to X. Lower power but full auto fire and ease of headshots won me over.

I have been trying Hornet on Turian Sentinel this week. Sounds awful but drops most foes in 2 or 3 bursts even with body shots (silver). I was pleasantly surprised. As for the Shuriken, i put it on my Valkyrie a few weeks back. Hated it & struggled to days, then something just clicked & I'm getting along fine with it now.

It really is garbage. But that won't stop fanboys defending it and accusing you of being bad for thinking an objectively bad weapon is bad.
Well there is a lot of guns that fanboys defend to the death, which I find personaly not worth the hype this forum is giving them.

What's most amusing is the people who attempt to portray themselves as better players than others because they can "make it work" by "using it in the right way". Clueless.

Here we have people who cannot understand the concept that different weapons are meant for different classes.Lord_Sirian wrote...

Honestly, as someone who used to defend the Hornet (and yes, I DO feel bad for having done that), it really is a bad weapon for a gold card. You can make it work yes, but there's not a single case in which another weapon couldn't do its job better (and usually much better).
For a rare, it's incredibly underwhelming.

I'd still say that some people might have understood something about the gun that I have not. I admit that I might not be able to use some of the guns in optimal capacity and I consider them supbar for some of the guns I use. Like Talon doesn't really fit my playstyle as well as AT-Raider does, or Claymore (I did kinda see what makes the gun so good, but I still felt when using it that it's damage was little too low for it being a one-shotter, so I stick with Raider).
But hey, those guns might be amazing in right hands. I just haven't seen it happen, nor could I get a hang of what makes the guns so good... but I play with pugs most of the time.

The difference being that the Talon is an objectively awesome weapon. (One of the best in the game). The Hornet is a bad gun that good players can make work well. The Talon is an awesome gun that good players will make even more awesome.

I checked your profile and I see you're playing the 360 version. That explains the problem, compensating for recoil with those analog sticks is damn near impossible.

I think I saw you earlier in the Platinum speedrun thread?
If you're judging the Hornet by its performance on Platinum, of course it doesn't perform well there, only the best weapons perform well there.
I admit the Hornet is not the best SMG -- the Hurricane outclasses it, and I've heard the CSMG does as well, though I haven't had the chance to try that one yet -- but on Silver and Gold it is definitely a functional option with the right build.
And in regards to an earlier point, "it works well on a Turian" IS a valid argument, since not every gun does.

LOL did this game suddenly turn into street fighter third strike? Cuz the game I'm playing involves alot of spamming against clueless ai enemies with hitboxes the size of barns, and not advanced gameplay mechanics.
But yeah, this gun blows.

(I did remove the word "bad" from the phrase "The Hornet is a bad gun" in that quote, but all the other statements in the quote I agree with 100%).

I don't play Platinum any more.
And I use the word "clueless" to spare you from more scathing language that a less polite man would be using.
The Hornet sucks. No two ways about it, it's terrible. The fact that I can score 200k+ with it (and I can and have) is no argument for it not being terrible.

I found Talon to be very medicore... tried it with scope and without. But then again, I had it on level 2 or something. Maybe it gets better on higher levels. I just couldn't see what the fuzz was about, even with the headshots. But AGAIN maybe I just need to try it a bit more.
I think Hornet could use a small damage boost, I like the gun otherwise. Weight is nice, the recoil brings character to the gun, firing speed is nice too. Guess that's why it does sucha medicore damage. Not very gold or Plat gun imo either.
