I have never played a platinum PUG. Sounds like a recipe for disaster given most Gold PUGs are poorly manned.

Sounds like you took the boots personally. Don't. Its going to happen again. It happens to me, it happens to others. Just join another game. Eventually, you will find a game where you won't get booted.
As for the other points. Platinum is played a little more organized. In the games I have played, kiting is done as a group. More organized and conservative than a gold or silver match where you can run out solo and kill.
