I recon Baldur's Gate 2 Collector's Edition and vanilla WoW collector's edition make the rarest ones.

Anyway, I don't really own any rarities; the rarest I've got are probably my Super Famicom copies of Chrono Trigger and Tales of Phantasia, neither being particularly rare or worth a lot.

Yeah it was such a lovely game and hard as rock for a new gamer like me back then

Same again but add in I and III (I have IV and V but they aren't rare)
Considering three people on this thread alone have Suikoden II, perhaps "rare" isn't the right word for it. There's a lot of them out there, but those of us that have them aren't letting them go.
I've got the whole series as well. Too bad Konami seems to have forgotten about it.
plus an original copy of Vandal Hearts and a copy of Border Down which I've never opened because I've never owned a Dreamcast.
<3 Vandal Hearts. I actually bought Vandal Hearts from a bargain bin in a department store for 8 bucks. The fact that it even made its way into a bargain bin just goes to show how underappreciated the genre is. Vandal Hearts II is one of my favorite games ever.

I guess maybe for me it would be Gladius on PS2. I only say that, because when my hubs and I were looking for that game, a few years back, it took us quite a while to find it.
I also have the Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver on PS1. But then, people don't get rid of those, do they? Hmm, nevermind.

How do you know if something is rare, anyway?

If you do a quick search you can find comprehensive video game lists that show how rare a game is considered. The most rare though are either games that had limited release/productions (Which are normally store/rental exclusives) or games the developer/publisher lose the license to create (This is not as common but Tatsunoko VS Capcom went into high demand after Capcom's license to use Tatsunoko ended).

Cool, thanks for the response. I doubt we have anything truly rare, but then again, my husband has (literally) hundreds of original XBox, Gamecube, Genesis, Dreamcast, etc. games that could fit the bill. Between the two of us, we're really kinda nerdy. Heh.wolfsite wrote...

EarthBound, probably. Was a b!tch to get, with it's price being around the high hundreds on eBay.

I have Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. So many are oblivious to this gem's existence, let alone have a copy. What an awesome, Lovecraftian tale spun across millennia.
I have it, but I didn't realize it had become so rare! It's a shame, since more people should be able to play it.

Yes, exactly, captain Claw the pirate cat.
