Good day Fine Forum Folks,
I am at a loss as to how I can add flame to my fire pits?
A "HUGE" thank you to anyone who can assist me with accomplishing this.Posted Image

That's easy. Just select Models menu from palette window. Select "fxe" folder then select "fire" folder. Take fxe_fire_small_p and place it into your fire pit. Just like any other model/object.

look under the models starting with fxe_ some are flames, smoke, light rays, and water falls. find one that you like. You will still need to add the animated 'light' for the flames to reflect on the area.

Hi,

i inserted the fxe_fire_small_p. I should see the flame effect? If yes, why i can't see nothing?

try to move your cursor up and down over the flame, you should see it than, otherwise, check coordinates (especialy "z" value - it might be somewhere over/within the fireplace)

Mmm... i noticed that during my "toolset section" if i used the cutscene editor i have some issues like this of visual effects that are not shown or in Animation Events the animation are showed badly.

Maybe i should ask if this could be fixed in next versions/patches of toolset.

Personally I think the custom campfire you generate using the VFX tutorial in the wiki looks better than all the flame models in the toolset. The VFX tutorial is very easy to follow and it will teach you a lot about vfx.

Good to know.
However i like the original flames effects, they are not too bad.

When this model, or any other model is selected, it cannot be draged or added to the area or placeable, your mouse pointer changes to a red circle with a perpendicular red line through the middle.Posted Image

Don't drag and drop it, just click on it, then move the mouse into the level editor window. You should get a large black crosshair, with a flame attached to it (that animated when you move the cursor). Click to place.

Thanks for the advice, but this did not work for me either, I left clicked on fxe_fire_small_p, located in the models palette window, found under the fxe folder, then the fire folder, but no crosshair appeared with the flame attached in the level editor. So perhaps there is something I need to set up amd configure in the toolset?
