I know it's cheeky to ask this here, as this is not to do with BG, but I figured this was my best/only hope of getting a reliable answer:
I'm going to play PS:T for the first time in aaaggges, on a (relatively speaking) modern computer (Vista, so not that modern, but relative to the game!...)
What I'm wondering is, can anyone recommend a suggested set-up in terms of patches/tweaks etc. For example, when I am installing a BG game on a new system and I want a smooth and tweaked but otherwise vanilla and unmodded experience I would 1) install the game from CDs, 2) install the relevant patch, 3) install the widescreen mod, 4) install the Gibberlings 3 fixpack.
Is there an equivalent course of action for PS:T? Might I even have to do some jiggery-pokery just to install onto a Vista system?
Many thanks in advance, and apologies for being off-topic. If this is removed, I understand.
Planescape: Torment setup - I know, not BG...

I installed on Linux recently, really straightforward. Similar story on Vista before that, would recommend installing to c:\\games rather than the default program files directory.
The Widescreen mod covers PS:T as well as BG so no difference there. I never really noticed major issues with the unpatched game but my last few runs have taken advantage of the fixpack below. Unlike BG I didn't need to use Generalized Biffing - the game ran smoothly.
& the only real issue I found there was right at the end where a peaceful solution worked but deciding to fight crashed the game. More likely to be a Linux/Wine issue rather than this fixpack though.
(enjoy)
edit, & there is a patch too that I always use.

That's great, Gate70, many thanks. Looks like I know what I'm doing next week. Must remember to eat too though.

I meant to check whether the widescreen mod was the cause of the final issue, can't remember if I did or not.

Sneaky how you discussed some BG stuff in there, made it relevant enough to just move it to the General forum.
I'm softening in my old age.

Just so you know. Gamebanshee have a forum for Planescape.
Just so that you don't have to rely on Kevin's indulgence in the future.

You might also go to Boards o'Magick, the forum of sorcerers.net, for questions about all D&D games that aren't Bioware (Icewind Dale, Temple of Elemental Evil and Planescape Torment).
For recommended install order, I use this one: http://bootstrike.co...rment/files.php
