This is probably going to turn into a gigantic flamewar but whatever. Serious question. Why do you want to wear the femshep banner if you are a guy? Statistics show that people generally choose avatars that are the same sex as they are. Now, I know that Jennifer Hale is widely considered a better voice actor than Mark Meer, but I'd be willing to bet that most of your "main" Sheps are male, just like mine is. Sure, I have a secondary femshep but my main guy is male.
Plus, I'm not totally down with the new picture of her. The default femshep from ME1 and ME2 was way better. That picture of her looks weird. Just my opinion.

Because "ROLE PLAYING GAME" is why. I'm a guy every day of my life, maybe it'd be interesting to "role play" as a different gender?
Also, because of threads like this one. Also, for the same reason I don't play sports games, because it's something I can do any day of the week. Maybe not at the same "level" as professional or college (or hell even highschool), but in the same ballpark.
Can I fly an interstellar spacecraft? Shoot at outer space aliens? No, which is why I play games like Mass Effect, and not car/sports/shoot at real-world-human-type games.
Which is why I like having femshep banner.
Last "also:" it is AN OPTION. fercrissakes.
