So the OP keeps changing the thread title, one side says it's confirmed, another side says it's still a rumour due to anonymous sources and all that. Meeeeeeehh.

Validity of either side is an unconfirmed rumor

I think the OP REALLY wants to see the fallout should this information be true. Most likely hyped up for it.

Unless I hear it from Microsoft themselves, I don't believe it.

Not gonna lie, I'm hoping this is true too.

On this topic, I want to be wrong. It would be a win for gaming. Although I indeed will find the fallout hilarious.

The profit margin from buying and reselling games is simply to large. Why support companies that continuously scam and rip off gamers?

The most recent leak I saw said the Durango had the ABILITY to be connected to the internet 24/7 allowing installation of updates while not in use (no mention of any requirement to connect to the internet).
The other thing it mentions is mandatory installations...which already occur on PS3

Same here.

Microsoft will likely try pulling a stunt like this, but it will completely backfire. I don't really care either way, as I will not be purchasing the Xbox whatever because of my horrible experiences with the 360 and my very good experiences with the PS3. Hopefully Sony doesn't try pulling any shenanigans.

If the new Xbox blocks used games, I will not be buying it. But its too early to tell at this point.

I'm going to put my conspiracy theory hat back on and say... it is all part of their master plan!

Release an always-online console. Have it flop terribly. Leave Sony with the console market all to itself. Watch as console market degrades with no real competition or innovation. Watch PC market grow, with digital downloads, access to indie projects and higher end hardware. PC market dominates the gaming world, requiring new hardware and new computers sold at a more frequent basis to keep pace with the lack of a bottleneck in console technology. Sell tons more copies of Windows.

Its almost TOO EASY...

As much love as I have for NIntendo, the Wii fad has come and gone. Most people don't even realize that the Wii U is even a new version of the Wii.

Microsoft will commit business kamikazee, all the while secretly plotting to reinstate PC gaming as the dominant form of video game experience once again. And once they get the world hooked on PC gaming, they will then create a...

...oh, drat. I ran out of tin foil.

They'll get it together...one day...I hope. I'm rather enjoying my 3DS in the meantime. Can't wait to pick up Luigi's Mansion and Castlevania
