Guess I'm switching to Sony..

Did you forget, Sony is going to do the same thing.

Sony isn't that retarded to do something like this

I don't necessarily support this(if true) but it being a huge negative for gameSLOP is a plus.

Well Ares, better start getting worried because rumors as legitimate as the xbox one are saying that Sony is doing the exact same thing.

Oh but they are. http://www.gamespot....d-games-6401992

I am going to love to see the end of console dominance.

I haven't followed any infos about the coming consoles so far. Sadly this sounds like something that could very well happen these days, be it Microsoft or Sony. It would also mean that I skip this generation in hopes for a better future. Books and movies are fun as well, and there are lots and lots of old games I have yet to play.

Or this could be totally unsubstantiated rumor-mongering - that too. I can't actually imagine a company being so stupid as to institute policies as restrictive as the ones in that piece - on the other hand, I have a gaming laptop and don't actually care if they end up shooting themselves in their collective foot should the rumors prove to be true.

Companies did already kill off the used game market on the PC though with the advent of always-online DRM, so why would not do so when the used game market on consoles hurts them more then piracy?

You have companies like Capcom who think it's a brilliant idea to have 12 character disc-locked content in a competitive fighting game and EA who thought TOR(tanic) was going to be a WOW-killer, so this wouldn't surprise me if true.

Gives me an excuse to finally get into PC gaming if it happens. I almost joined the Master Race last November so I could continue playing ME3 MP after my DLC info went haywire on the server, but the Bioguys fixed it quickly. Something EA support couldn't do after two months.

Well, can someone explain it to me how are they gonna pass EU law saying that preventing reselling games is illegal?
Or are they gonna release the consoles averywhere but?

This just makes me disillusioned with the entire industry.

The quality of SP games has gone down in lieu of enlarged multi-player elements, Micro-transactions and online passes are looking like the wave of the future, and consoles require you to buy new copies of games and have a basic service to even play a single-player.

Why does the entire industry insist on nickel-and-diming gamers?

Question is rhetorical btw, and I already know the answer.

Metal Gear will no doubt continue on Sony consoles.

Conversion it is.

I never EVER get used games, I always specifically ask for new copies, and if there aren't any I don't pick up the game.

Plus every time I game on my 360 I'm online, unless there's a power outage or whatever which would make gaming on it impossible anyway.

So I'm all good.

Hahaha, they saw what happened with Diablo 3 and thought "We need this for our console"?

Doesn't EA already do this with used games by abusing the online pass

Well, the good news is this will probably drive the price of new games down. There are a lot of people who trade in old games for new. I always thought one of the advantages to the console was being able to return your games if they absolutely suck -- you can't do that with the PC. Take that away, the console is less appealing. Then add to that that lower-end gaming PCs probably cost less than consoles yet are more powerful, I can see PC gaming rising in popularity.

This won't be the first time an industry has screwed the pooch.

Couldn't play ME2 or ME3 until I connected to XBL and input the code.

^ *cringes* I'm a 360 player, and I think the Kinect is an abomination. That is all.

That is an area outside of the current bullcrap that I had enough of as well. The PS4...if they allow used games...is the obvious choice. Especially since it is more powerful, anyways. PS4 will look great on my 50" HD 1080P.

We don't even know how the PS4 and Nextbox will stack up.

As far as we're currently aware, they might as well be equals and purchasing one over the other is just based around what library of games you want.

I think we should all just wait for cold hard facts instead of rumors at this point.

I don't find this all that probable, personally. Only now after Vita's been released, the PSP games available on PSN have seen noticeable price cuts. (though now that the system is pretty much dead outside Japan, most titles lie comfortably in the 10-20€ range)

Hella assumption there tbh.
