J. Reezy, you nailed it. And it will utterly fail. It's an inevitable. The market rejection and massive backlash is 100% certain. It's what makes it so intriguing.

Guys, guys, hold up. I got an idea here. This will make the most badass next gen system.

Let's take all the ideas that don't work.. AND PUT THEM ON THE XBOX DURANGO!

You know, I'm going to start a rumor up saying I'm the Emperor of all mankind. See how many of you buy it at face value and pay me money.

I figured Microsoft was planning on doing that anyways, Warlord.

Regardless, I wasn't planning to get the new Xbox, at least not right away - I was going to wait for exclusives (exclusives on the xbox, I know, I know), but seeing this just makes me cringe. If this is true, I'm holding off this console. Might as well start PC gaming again, haha.

Logical and rational perception. PC is better then consoles anyways, its a fact. I'm a console gamer, and also a realist. PS4 will be better or tied with the majority of PCs for 1-2 years then the PC will pass it again just because of hardware improvements.

I owned a 360 and only a 360 after my former girlfriend took my pc, and I will, with complete certainty, be buying the PlayStation 4. No required online, used games, the ability to buy downloaded games if one wants (which I most certainly won't want, but its there) and a HDDR5 graphics card.

I will be a new customer as well. Also may check out Wii U when cheap to get my nostalgic Zelda fix.

Doesn't affect me as I'm locked in with PlayStation.

But I feel truly sorry for Xbox users. Hopeful the backlash from retailers and players will get MS to reverse this BS.

What territories will you give me, your Grace? I would like natural resources of Gold, Oil, and Bauxite. As well as a few smoking hot concubines.

Vgleaks is probaly the most "trustworthy" side you'll find when it comes to rumors about that stuff. Still take it with a grain of salt.

It'll be, and I quote, "epic"! It'll make mega profits! Online universes for everyone! And everyone will just love it.

But don't forget the amazingly awesome new Kinect. Ftw, guys!

Hmm, well if you want all of that, Alaska, Central Siberia, and Sections of Africa work. Take your pick of one of those.

Also of note: IGN said "confirmed". I disagree with a lot of what they say, but when they confirm something, they are putting their reputation and sponsor dollars on the line.

In any case, for people in disbelief still, the slope for this not being true is an uphill one indeed.

So do I just post my credit card number here, or do I have to perform some kind of service in order to get my harem ... ?

Screw used games. None of the money goes to the devs, just the useless store owners. If you want cheap games, get a PC. At least the money goes to the people who made the game.

I would sooner pirate a game than buy a used one. I pay money to support the developers, not the shelf stackers.

Much like how the market has rejected Steam's online DRM and lack of used games, I'm sure.

Let's see what happens. We'll watch together.

IGN's reputation wasn't exactly that great to begin with. So no loss for them.

Steam compensates by having them dirt cheap with sales and other such material.

That's not the biggest issue with this....

It's the fact that you have to be online to play your console at all. And the implication that you can't borrow or rent games from other people.

Wait, did you just criticize not supporting devs and then promote stealing from them as an alternative? Ok...

Moving on.

Mind you, I'm not going to be real pleased with this development. Unlike with my computer I don't have my 360 hooked up to the internet often, and with school internet being what it is always-online would be a pain (on the other hand, I'd welcome the large hard drives required to make installations standard with welcome arms).

But I think it's a bit chicken-little to say this is going to have a massive backlash and doom Durango. Not every online DRM system is is bad as Diablo III and SimCity.

It's similar to Kinect. It does nothing for "serious gamers" like the lot of us that gather here are, so mocking it is in vogue, but that doesn't change that it's a unit-seller in other demographics. My parents strongly considered buying another 360 so they, my sister, and my brother could have stuff like Just Dance at home (I still have a 1st gen white brick so Kinect is a no go anyways).

Indeed, plus PC gamers go in with certain expectations of how they'll have to pay for things. The audience for a console expects it to have certain advantages compared to what PC users deal with in regards to games. Always online and no used games is really just a technologically deficient PC of a console. As far as I know console gamers don't want that.

Who knows how this will affect the rental industry, too.  Those are my two biggest issues with this deal.
