     Hello, everyone.
I have a few questions about some of the retail editions that are being sold.  Namely the Baldur's Gate classic Anthology.  Is this an actual version of the game and will it work on North American machines ( region 1).

Kind of off topic but also all the other box set, Neverwinter Nights complete set as well.

     Thanks for the answers!

I suspect you are referring to the Dungeons & Dragons Anthology: The Master Collection, which was released a bit over a year ago. That includes various other games as well as all the BG titles. That will work in North America, but the games don't come fully patched so you will have to install the patches (and some of those are region specific).

If you are only interested in BG you would probably get better value by buying as a download, e.g. from GOG. The digital version does not need patching. In my case a major consideration in buying that as well as my old CDs was that I find it a pain to have to keep a CD in the drive for games (however, I'm not sure if that is still a requirement with the Master Collection). You might also want to consider BG: Enhanced Edition. That gives you a bit of extra story for BG, but is not currently very mod-friendly so if you want to mod the games you might be better off with another version.
