Batarian Soldier, TGI, Huntress, Drell Adept, Vorcha Sentinel. I have been using the Huntress lot recently and I have grown to love her, Dark Channeling a Phantom then just walking away and waiting for it to drop dead is such a great feeling.
What's your go-to character?

Usually assguard. She's the squishiest vanguard that I can effectively tank with on a laggy connection, and completely rip up any faction on a clean one.
Human engineer might be second, but that's a tough one because I love my shadow and batarian soldier and brawler too.

A lot of people underestimate Ballistic Blades...
I also think it has a lot to do with BB and Inferno Grenades having very little graphics with them. People don't like it when things don't make big bright booms... or at least loud ones (like Biotic Explosions).

But... but missileless kill streaks and accidentally killing Phantoms you didn't see is so much fun.

I go with moods.
Sometimes I will want to play Adepts all the time, so I'd be playing the Asari Adept (the one with Stasis) every other game or so.
Then I'll want to play Engineer, then Sentinel, etc... and I wind up cycling all classes.
But if there is a character where I can say, "I'm 100% confident I can play a good game with this character" is the Novaguard. Although I don't play Platinum. On Gold, which is what I play most of the time, I can make her work well. She can be tough to play against Collectors though.
When I am tired of seeing the whole screen shake and my eyes have had enough, I will play the Quarian Female Infiltrator. I don't know why, she used to be one of my least favourite infiltrators and now I like her a whole lot.

Used to be Hunter Mode-less Geth Engineer. With a GPS. Then, I switched to a sniper-less QMI for a while. He loves the Hurricane. Right now, I'm in love with the Asari Huntress. DC and TC just work so well together.

Asari Justicar feels like my base where I compare others. Also Asari Vanguard and Human Soldier for fast action, or Turian Sentinel for safety when I'm tired or rusty. I try to play the volus supports, but it can be a challenge sometimes.

Lately, Drell Infiltrator. I use the mine as an all range Hunter Mode with a delicious 25% debuff attached and unload into everything with an Indra.
When everything absolutely must die it's time for the Gethfiltrator with a Phasic 3 Javelin.
Brawler for Cerberus Gold because fun, even off host, provided I don't have a full second or so of lag.
Volus Engineer when everyone else is rocking murderous kits and I want to be a little fat man with high explosives. I really need to go back to the Eagle though I think, I get too ballsy with the Hurricane and wind up waddling up to mooks to shoot them. I've gone from debuffing god to hilarious mass murderer.
Human Adept or Asari Justicar for Biotics. Bubble's not an amazing power anymore but she's still fun with a warp Harrier, and Warp + Shockwave just feels so good.
Turian Ghost for playing against Cerberus with the Saber (it really doesn't work very well against other factions -- maybe the Geth), and Destroyer very rarely for PPR pew pew.

Working my way through every character, but every 3 or 4 promotions I switch back to the Turian Sentinel, as I love that class. How I spec him depends on what I want to do with him; I have a fun build for Silver and below (high damage output), and a preferred build for Gold and above (more protection, doesn't really hold his own so works better with other people as a primer/detonator/de-buffer).
Colours: Typically a dark purple as the main colour, black as secondary, white as pattern colour, white lights.
I call him Geoff.
