I posted this idea in Wish List for Awakening thread but I just want to see other people's reactions to it (and Bioware team that reads this thread).
So most all of us here are drooling with excitement over the Awakening Expansion coming out in March. I mean what more can a DAO fan ask for; Hours of added on gameplay, new land to discover, new items, and 5 brand spanking new companions... and an old favorite.
Now granted we don't know who the returning playable character is but chances are whoever it is there will be a faction of saddened fans. Sadly thems the breaks right? Well what if there was another alternative? In another thread a mod or one of the higher ups on the forums said it would be too much money and development to brink back more old companions. I can see this point seeing how this hyped up to be a big expansion and at least to me a fair price point.
This leads to my solution, DLC. What if BioWare offers up some of the old companions as DLC for Awakening? I know next to nothing about codes and models but it seems to me the expansion would be using the same graphics engine so the old player model would be like a copy and paste, except for cutscenes. It is not like they would have to recreate the character from scratch. Still this is more work for them so I understand but what if they were compensated for that effort? Make some the old characters DLC, my suggestion costing somewhere between 5-15 bucks per character or even do a small group and charge 25.
Is this asking alot maybe? Cold this be benefit both the gamer and the company? I think it would. All I know is I would rather throw down some cash for character dlc than 45 minute mission but that may just be me.
Exceptions to this idea being Shale and Dog. Shale is already technically a DLC character and there can be no way it should be hard to include Dog (although he is one of my favs).
This is just an idea I had and wondered if anybody feels the same way.
