I've been playing through Dead Space 3 co-op and have been experimenting with different weapon setups. With so much variety it's been a lot of fun seeing how some weapons that look promising statistically fail in field tests.
So far my go-to weapon has been:
Top Tool: Military core - evangilizer conical tip.
Circuits: All +3 damage / +3 fire rate
This creates a variation of the normal shotgun that boosts rate of fire but sacrifices clip capacity and reload speed. With the circuits it has something like an 8 shot clip with only a very small delay between each shot... as close to truly semi-automatic as I can get it.
Bottom Tool: Survey charge - The tip that turns it into a rocket launcher.
Circuits: +X reload / +X clip
I use the rocket launcher against targets of opportunity like large groups of clustered enemies or for emergencies while getting swarmed by firing it straight at the ground. It has served me quite well. I circuited it for clip capacity because the rocket launcher doesn't really need help in the damage per shot department (so far at least, near the end of the game) and having an extra rocket or two in the clip means I can spread the damage out between multiple enemies rather than wasting circuit slots on worthless overkill damage.
I socketed reload because it boosts the reload speed of the top tool (since they share the same animation) because I feel that the faster reload for the shotgun is far more beneficial than buffing any other aspect of the rocket launcher.
Modifiers: Elite heavy frame / Blast shield / Electric charge
I had a hard time with choosing the shield because I wanted to use the slot for something else but if I can't use the shield the rocket launcher loses its more appealing aspect to me. I took electric charge because it seems to have a more immediate effect than the fire or acid but I'm not entirely certain on how much it actually contributes to my setup.
What are your go-to gun(s)?
