I'm curious as to the prevelance of hacking one's ini files?

No, not the stupid "one million damage / bullet" stuff, but Bioware tolerated things like changing your FOV (field of view), or SpaceBarDoesEverything adjustments?

Does anyone, or know "a friend" ;) that, massages guns or kits slightly?  Just a touch to the refire of the N7 Valkyrie because you disagree, or 5% more damage to Carnage and so on.  Nothing really cheating, but you feel are minor tweaks to how things should be, or making weaker weapons more viable?

Asthetics?  I know people hack the visuals to reduce the Hunter Mode overlay, and custom banners, do PCers have custom skins for character kits?  eg:  ME1/2 skins on multiplayer characters?

I don't mod anything.

Heck I use a touchpad, not a mouse.

I hacked the INI files. I didn't like that they removed that 3rd Prime on late Gold Waves, so I brought him back.

In about 3000 games, I have met 3 hackers.

That's 9000 people I've played with (technically I've played with a lot of duplicates, but we'll ignore that since I could have played with duplicate hackers too),

Frequency is therefore 0.03 +/- 0.02%

nah, as long as the edits have not been outlawed by Bioware then I'm OK and I do not see it as cheating.

Still, my ME3 runs fully unmodified. Heck, I still swear at the omni-spacebar-button on a regular basis. I figure, it is better to play it safe than to feel sorry later.

Nothing at all.

And friends who hacked something were insta-unfriended.

If this thread is to get people to admit they hack, if they do I doubt they would post here.. Unless I got the intentions all mixed up.

Edit: Never mind, I'm an idiot. Please disregard what I wrote.

I only met one hacker. PC cheaters play private, I guess.

I don't change the FOV for multiplayer but I do use a different FOV fix for SP and it makes for a much better experience for me.

The only MP INI edit I make is to separate the "use" function from the spacebar. They should have it separated as a menu option, anyway. Nothing worse than trying to rev someone near cover only to get stuck going in and out.

I use 100 FoV and R as use. I also do a bit of modding for SP as well.

Not a bad shot for a touchpad user.

I don't mod as well. I don't see the point in MP.

PC cheaters can do private lobbies so that they're never caught by other players. I don't think that's what the OP is talking about, though. He isn't talking about absurdly obvious cheaters, but people that might make tiny changes that you wouldn't even notice, or people that make Bioware-approved changes like tweaking the omni-bar or increasing your FoV.

What are the odds someone who actually cheats is going to come on to a moderated forum and admit that?

Man, I wish I could change the way Hunter Mode looks. That thing is headache inducing.

Too bad I am on Xbox and even if I wasn't, I'd have no idea what I am doing.

I'd bet a lot of people do. The information is freely available and easy to follow. I don't think people who post here do, for the most part.

The game is way to easy for there be a need to cheat.

And besides only noobs use .ini hacks because it is easy. Expert gamers either don't cheat at all or find game mechanics to exploit legitimately.

The only think I've considered doing is going in and finding where Hunter Vision lives and nuking it from low orbit. ****ing artificial screen flicker.

The real question is, are you assuming someone is dumb enough to actually say "yes, I modify the game values." ??? (beyond the FoV, and hunter mode sort of tweaks).

People cheat, far more often than you'd think, and considering it can be done in a fairly "safe" manner, I'd say its quite reasonable to assume that it happens at a much larger % than many would lead you to believe.

If you think console missile glitching was merely a platform based anomaly(in regards to cheating as a whole), I'm of the belief (I dont have the facts, merely speculation) that you'd be mistaken. As stated many times, PC players never needed to use the missile glitch to achieve a fairly similar outcome or less obvious method of cheating.

Truth is, there is nothing that can be done about it, and in the end its best to simply ignore the whole topic, beyond reporting cheaters when you come across them, as speculation on this issue is only going to lead to debate/arguing that will likely go nowhere.

nope!
but met some abnormalities:
-10 grenades per box (left game as I found out)
- "Avenger I" oneshots pyros on gold (asked what's going on, host tells me it's a bug, I left and checked players manifest, then sent cheatmail to bioware)
- Demolisher Arcgrenades kill any mook at first contact, on silver (left game)
