That's ok, because Synthesis doesn't make her anymore alive, she already was.

"I feel alive"
"Thanks to you, I'm alive"

Synthesis:

"I'm alive"

Warning, synthesis may cause memory loss, use with caution.

She never says she's alive before Synthesis. She only says she feels alive due to Shepards influence.

Yes, she did. it was one ofthelast 3 conversations you had with her.

If we're trying to be real about it, stop and pick him up a hooker. I'm sure they're still around. Hell I'd have a never ending stock of hookers and blow on that ride to the apocolypse.

When people suggested EDI get uploaded to some combat robot for Mass Effect 3 in these forums; I laughed. I thought it was such a trite, unbelievably stupid idea. "Bioware would never do something that... dumb" I thought.

And then they went ahead and did it, and I laughed again, in a bad way. Like the game was becoming a parody of itself.

Did anyone else feel the same way?

No. I thought having EDI become a controlloble squadmate was a great idea. My only real concern was how she's managed to jump from being several tons of computing hardware into a fembot... but the way it was depicted in game worked well.

I don't really understand why people pick these completely arbitrary things and hold them up as the daftest things they've ever seen. 'ZOMG A ROBOT THAT LOOKS FEMININE DIS IZ DA WORS FING SINCE DA AWESOME BUTTON AMIRITE?!'

Sure, there's plenty of silly things in ME3. Shepard's creepy habit of eavesdropping on people and producing exactly what they've always wanted like the Burger King, for instance. But this? Hardly.

Sorry, they are based of the book Ender's game and the aliens movie series.

You have no idea how much this series borrow form other scifi stories.

In that they're giant alien bugs, perhaps. Beyond that they have little to no similarity (hell, the Formics and Xenomorphs have virtually no similarity to each other, let alone to the Rachni).

If you're going to say 'giant alien bugs' then they predate both Ender's Game and Aliens.

You're telling me that finding a giant self aware telepathic bug that is  the last of it's kind found in ME is nothing like the fornics in enders' game, which story is that Ender a find a  giant self aware telepathic bug that is  the last of it's kind.

Sorry, but everything about the rachni is exactly the same as the fornics. Both races even go to war with other races without those races  knowing why and had to be killed off to stop them.

Exactly, why the action is redundant terms of character development and her characterizetion goes backwards.

EDI pre synthesis: I feel truly alive thanks to Shepard's influence and interaction with me.
EDI post synthesis: I feel truly alive thanks to synthesis.

Pinochio becomes a real boy twice, only according to the exposition dump of the Catalyst only the last one actually counts and anything Shepard did in his interaction was meaningless because as you youself have stated "the peace won't last" supposedly.

Incorrect. EDI doesn't say she feels truly alive and she doesn't say she's alive thanks to Synthesis. She literally just says "I am alive" and "We will remember *Shepard. Because of her.. I am alive, and I am not alone."

*Shepard, not Synthesis.

I don't know how you jumped to the conclusion that she was talking about Synthesis when you also pointed out she says the same thing pre-Synthesis.

I like the body and how it looks, but the ****** is too excessive. I might be a little biased her, but seriously... A robot **** would be too painful to even hint at. I'm torn on her relationship with Joker. It seems odd, but Joker finally finding something that won't crush him is a nice gift to him, if you ask me.

Because the context of the scene presents it as such. Shepard's last action was to activate synthesis. Hence because of this action she is now alive and not alone. Shepard's action is a reference to how the Reapers were stopped and the galaxy was saved synthesis in other words. Each ending epilogue pain stakingly tries to glorify whichever decicion you've made even if it was controling the reapers or destroying all synthetics, it's no different in this case, EDI's talking specificaly about synthesis and how it has changed society herself included.

She actually justs says "I am alive" then goes on to talk about how the war is over and the Reapers are helping them rebuild. Then she talks about Synthesis. Not Synthesis making her alive, just what Synthesis could make them achieve.

Remember no one knows Shepard chose Sythesis, but they do know Shepard activated the Crucible.

So all she's saying is she's not dead thanks to Shepard activating the Crucible and stopping the war. Not she's now alive thanks to Synthesis.

Shepard was on the Citadel and activated the Crucible, the crucible made them all green. I think they can add 2 and 2 together.

The whole point of the EC epilogues was to explain what each of the options does and their implications, this is the clarity portion of "clarity and closure". The not alone portion reference surviving the Reaper Invasion, she's saying that she can apprciate being alive thanks to synthesis, which is again redundant since she was already able to that not a few scenes prior. Remeber Shepard can go through the entire compaign without bothering to even talk to EDI and influence her mentality or being downright dismissive towards sythetics in general, picking synthesis will not change her monologue in this case she'll still talk about being able to appreciate being alive thanks to Shepard, she's clearly refering to synthesis.

No one alive knew the choices even existed, apart from Shepard and the Catalyst. That's the only facts we have.

Everything else, the Reapers being aware of the Catalyst or the Catalyst/Reapers telling them (though correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Citadel destroyed in Synthesis? Or is that only Pre-EC?) is just headcanon.

Shepard was on the Citadel and activated the Crucible.

2+2 = Shepard activated the Crucible and ended the war, so thanks to him she's not dead.

2+2 doesn't = Shepard had 3 choices to make and chose Synthesis so thanks to him she's now truly alive.

Yes surviving the Reaper war, she's alive thanks to Shepard ending the war, not thanks to Synthesis. Shepard can go through the entire campaign with bothering to speak to EDI, but she still talks about being alive (AKA not dead) thanks to Shepard ending the war, not thanks to Synthesis.

You're complaining about redundant information and negated character arcs but that only comes from misinterpreting what she's saying. There's none of that if you just listen to what she's saying, rather than looking for hidden meanings and headcanoning.
