Why would any one hate advertising It informs you about upcomeing things that you are most likely to buy anyway. ingame advertising is fine when its about stuff for that game alone its not like they have adds for SWOR or ME2. they are advertising for DA:O in DA:O because that is where the targeted market is. and it was not like it was in your face about it it was just the guy wh would have been there if you downloaded it from the marketplace or network or off the site anyway.

Yeah, if you've paid quite a bit of money for the game anyway though, you don't especially want some long-faced **** popping up and trying to sell you more. It's just sneaky and crass* in my opinion. If they want to advertise somewhere else, fair enough, but otherwise... leave it out, BioWare. It's just unnecessary.

While this makes absolute sense, it seems people just can't do that. If they see a Quest Arrow they can't use, they come here and complain about it for hours.

Yes, try reading the thread before posting. This argument has been used a few times and actually misses the point of the debate.

It's a discussion forum. We come here for discussion and debate, that is the point of it. One might ask what on earth you are doing wasting your time even reading this thread. If it annoys you so much, just ignore it, eh?

I actualy did pay a lot for this game I bought it twice once standed used than I orderd the collectors edistion off amazon. It is not as bad as you make it out to be Levi is just standing there in the cornor of your camp and he gives you the option to buy the wardens keep from him. Its not like he runs up to you and punches you in the balls and demands you buy the dlc. you can ignore him entierly or jsut chose not to buy the dlc altogether and he will just stand there quietly. it not like he screaming " BUY NEW DLC !" every ten seconds he jsut hangs out in the cornor like an emo kid. and just like an emo kid you can ignore him wail he crys about being lonely.

There's nothing quite like following one's own advice, is there?

When did I say it annoys me? It could be entirely possible that I like fueling the fire, which isn't the case, but I seem to be doing that. I have to go to work now, so I'll bow out; regardless of differences on this subject, it was fun exchanging witty banter with you! Hope to see you around later on. :)

hmm maybe i'm wrong but the worst possible advice you can give someone with a problem (no matter how trivial) is to ignore it.

How do you know it annoys me? Perhaps I like to fuel the fire.

*Was going to say something mean here but then actually read your post fully and I don't know whether you're being sarcastic but anyway I won't risk it*

I dont think thats entierly true. a lot of stress can be avoided if you simply ignore things that you know will only annoy or anger you in the future. think of ignoreing things as a premtive stike on anger and stress. it can all be avoided by saying "screw it"

You're right there, but I think it's very natural for people to want to discuss things that are annoying them, and as someone mentioned earlier, staying silent is no way to encourage change.

I think we all got a bit off topic so ill bring us back to the mian argument of this thread.

I think ingame advertising is not just a good idea but Bioware should go one step futher and add a town crier in denurum((SP)) that will in the games own way inform you on upcomeing updates dlcs and content. That way he is in a maijor city and not your camp.

Meh, I honestly didn't think it was so bad. I was kinda surprised by that seeing as I tend to be more strict about this stuff. The way I see it, it's one NPC who wouldn't even be there if the DLC wasn't offered. Sure, it breaks character, but in a game like Dragon Age is it really that big a deal? With settings like the ones belonging to Blizzard...in character dialogue for them is speaking in grammatically correct modern English, even in fantasy settings. ****ing about this is like giving a ticket to a 60 year old Vietnam Vet for speeding on one brief occasion and in doing so, missing ticketing a teenager who is driving faster consistently.

True, but we're willing to forgive Blizzard because their games work.

Further, in the case of World of Warcraft, every race has a language, and they speak them often. More often, I would wager, than the characters in Dragon Age.

my problem with Wardens Keep was that it had nothing to do with the rest of the game. Shale was good DLC, it was value for the entire game, Wardens Keep was not and a silly excuse to get a better armor (it is good, but the item stash should have been there from the beginning!!!)

In this case, ****ing about it on a forum is no way to encourage change either. =P

Well ****ing doesn't help, true, but constructive complaining can't hurt ;)

Like I said earlier, this is a discussion forum, and this is one of the things we want to discuss. Fair? I think so =]

wardens keep ahd its flaws bhut it was stilla  decent dlc. If you beat the game you kinda have to rely on the dlc to keep your finished charetor going. for me it added something to my former charetor and thatw as giveing him somethign to do after he killed the archdemon. if not he hangs around the camp bored.

true and in this specific case i believe that this in game feature can safely be ignored.
But on the other hand it's good to be critical and in many cases necessary for progress and changes.

As for advertisement in general my main concern is the ''attitude'' (i hope that is the right word) For example we all know that pharmaceutical companies spend more money on advertisement  than on actual medical research. That clearly shows that their priority is not the health care of people but making money. Of-course we can find legit reasons for that but i believe we should strive to live in a world where money is not a priority. And in DA:O (EA) case i feel that this way of advertising is more intended for money making rather than supplying us with knowledge of new and improved content. It's all about levels and games are in a low level category so this can be ignored but peoples health cant' be. I hope i made some sense English is not my main.

how so he would be out of the way and sotra stand there shouting rumors about upcomeing stuff like the dawrf ciers in the dimond distrect do. only the one in demurum would tell you about new dlcs and content and so on but only if you chose to interact with him.

There is at least one quest that relies on it: The star metal sword. They probably would have put in more if they had the time to do it.
