I tried searching, but everyone is in different directions about this...
For a melee rogue, would str/dex, or cunning/dex be better?
The reason I ask, I know cunning/dex is daggers, but str/dex would be mainhand weapons like axes.
And secondly, since Dex does not add any damage what so ever to daggers on console (I've tested it numerous times, and so have others).... what's the best way to do it then?
Keep in mind its console, not pc where dex is fine.
Consoles rogue, STR/dex or Cunning/dex?

The only difference is that str/dex saves you the three talent points needed to get Lethality and allows you to use a large main hand weapon. Of note is that if you go Assassin or Bard for specialization then cun governs many of those abilities so a high cun is typically more useful than a high str rating.
Also, as most Rogues use light armor and this only requires 20 str then you never need to invest many, if any, points into str (typically none since +str items are easy to acquire). Overall cun is far more useful, especally for a backstab build since your chance to hit is always higher. The only build I could see getting more use from a str/dex would be a Ranger/Duelist as neither relies upon cun heavily.
Once the consoles get the dex hotfix this will all change however.

Hmmm. The Str rogue would have a higher attack rating than the cun rogue, because the to-hit chance isn't carried over with Lethality.
But Cunning gets bonuses from exploit weakness etc. Also, it means you only need 1 point in lockpicking compared to 4.
I prefer cun. If you want to go strength, play as a warrior, and go 36 dex for two fullsized weapons, rest strength, and focus on AoE damage with Veshaille and Keening Blade (Starfang with DLC).
