yeah, the Griffons could be flying around in the Kocari Wilds or even farther south for all we know. Kocari Wilds is still unexplored territory for the most part.
It's unlikely they're to the south as that's mostly an icy wasteland.Solostran85 wrote...
But it was stated somewhere they were extinct.
It was stated somewhere that elves were once immortal. It was stated somewhere that Andreste was a mage. It was stated somewhere that the magisters entered the Golden City to usurp the Maker.
There's a great deal stated that is dubious; that's the nature of lore in this game.
Wouldn't it be amazing if Grey Wardens got Griffons?

If griffons were still around I can see Bioware make a minigame based on Joust, just like they did with Jade Empire by placing a Galaga styled minigame in it.
That would be truly awesome.

The conversation with Wynne about the story of the Grey Warden's of old is sooo much funnier if you use all the "Does it have Griffons?" response lines.

I don't think the Dragon Age engine is capable of doing this. You can't even jump over small obstacles blocking your way like rocks and fallen trees (which frustrates me sometimes). In the gameplay, no; in a cinematics video, maybe.
Exactly right; too bad though

How about simply a skin-mod for the Dog?
As in a baby griffon companion, the first of a new bloodline... intelligent as a mabari and as tough... but small.
Now that is something I would like to see for Awakening.

1. They had trouble with HORSES in this game. If Horses are an issue, then we're not getting flying Griffons.

There's a good point. Think micro. How about instead of a flying griffon mount the griffon is like a companion just like the mabari hound.

Yes it should be really easy to bring a long extinct species back out of no where. Gameplay wise it wouldn't fit, unless it was used in like cintematics. I think bioware made them extinct so we wouldnt get any other idea's.
LOL, you seen how they rewrote Mass Effect 2 codex entries from ME1?
Bringing back Griffons would be a minor thing compared to those changes!
Im hoping a white griffon is the ultimate pay off at the end of DA:O 3
A fitting end to the trilogy in my opinion

Or... think micro, and have a tiny griffon as a companion instead!!!
Wait... is there an echo in here?

Might just throw a couple wild ones in there as bosses or whatever, kind of like dragons.

Err there extinct though. Last time i checked once a species is extinct it can never come back on its own. Here's a wiki article on them http://dragonage.wik...m/wiki/GriffonsMike1121 wrote...
I think they'll definitely make an appearance in a sequel, though maybe not with Grey Wardens riding them.

Arg, as pointed out in the codex, dragons prior to this age were thought to be extinct as well. Thus, Griffons could be made unextinct with a wave of the hand. Of course they would be unlikely to be domesticated so using them as mounts would be problematic. As for a real life example google coelacanth.Solostran85 wrote...

So draw conclusions as you like, the wording is ambiguous on purpose. They might be added sometime (though most probably not in DA:O but in another DA game), but then again, they might not..
