What is your strategy for placing Sentry Turrets? Do you throw them at spawns? Do you place them on a high ground with good vantage point? Any specific spots that you just love to set them up at?

For example, on Giant, I have witnessed a couple of players that set their Sentry Turret up on that high beam where the human-sized units spawn and jump down from. It's got LOS to rain death on spawns on both sides while also being fairly hard for the enemies to shoot down. I've seen it last entire wave or two without being replaced while dealing out continous damage. The Damage and Rockets evolutions works best for this obviously.

I place it into another skill points.

Depends on its spec.
If it's rocket, I put it a bit far from spawn area but also could draw their fire away from me.
If it's geth's shield recharge one, I put it diagonally in front of me, because your turret can deflect your shot (your shot doesn't go through the turret, and change the direction of the projectile).
If it's flamethrower, I spawn it in the spawn area or anywhere where enemies are gathered.

That is interesting.  Haven't seen it before.  My Sentry Turret is spec'd for flamer so I throw it at spawns.

 It all depends on the situation and whats happening in the battle for me personally. Also it greatly depends on what my current strategy or goal is. Lastly, I don't usually keep a turret in one spot for too long, I constantly am  setting it up at different spots. 
Sometimes If I have the upper hand as in the higher ground, I place my turret to the side of the enemy or behind them. Many time though, I would not place the turret right next to the enemy or right next to me ( this puts in in the line of fire ). This is all for my missle turret though. For my Flamethrower turret, I usually place it right next to the enemy and create fire explosions and what not while using it to distract alot. I also like placing it next to team mates who are down or for support
This is all for my Female Quarian Engineer though so a Geth turret may have bunch of other uses
Turrets have so many uses I just find it hard to pin point exactly how I use it, because theres a million ways For me it all depends on different builds, strategy, whats happening in the present moment and just creativity!

I do a minigame where I try to throw it on top of things. That alone amuses me, but it usually has a better firing arc, too.

Lol I usually throw mine on top of the ship on Fire Base White at the Extraction zone. When I discovered this during the demo I was in awe

From my experience they're taken down even quicker when placed at high vantage points. You can place it on top of the control room on Dagger, basically making it cover 50% of the map, but the enemies will immediately shoot it down.

The pets need a buff anyway, so I don't do much turret placing these days.

Oooooo, that's a fun spot. Good for spawns coming up on the landing pad.

As to how I use mine, I know of the strategies that you use, but as to actually applying what I know in actual combat...well, I tend to forget about them at times. But, yah typically, flamer turrets to spawns with some cover to protect it from getting destroyed instantly. I also place it behind me if I feel I have a high chance of getting flanked.

Yah, I don't like placing it on top of the control room. It does get shot out too often there. That;s why I'm liking it on the high beam in the open area on Giant instead. Much harder to taken down from what I've seen and done myself once.

It could definitely use a buff though.

On top of cover mostly. It doesn't last enough to do significant damage though.

Sometimes I just use it to get enemies' attention for a bit so I can flank them.

It looks deceptively easy to get on after a few tries. But months? Damn. That whole area there on White has a few other fun spots I try to place the Turrets on at the start of the wave.

Objectives as a distraction (edit: a little way off from the objective), downed team mates as a quick distraction, flanks as an early warning system, just beyond a corner as a target locator and anywhere else in general as the case may be.

That's something I almost forgot. I use it to help to track out where the enemies will be coming from and also for tracking the stragglers near the end of the wave.

Take pics for any of the special spots for the Sentry Turrets please. I'm lending my Xbox to someone else for a while so I can;t do it myself ATM.

This thread could help people find wacky/good spots to place Sentry Turrets.

I usually throw near spawns. It is nice to have the damage factor, however I find turrets and the combat drone are very useful as a distraction device. When the enemy is too busy with the turret they aren't shooting at me, and that makes them fish in a barrel, goldfish instead of Pirahna.
